I always thought nursing was a great job for women regardless of their background because it brought out their compassionate, caring nature. Maybe in the future the Saudi will have to import nurses from the Philippines if they don't have them already because they make good nurses as those in the U.S. are well aware.

The nursing profession for women is still frowned upon by almost a third of Saudi families because of customs and traditions.

This attitude is negatively impacting the majority of families who accept the profession.

Taqwa Yusuf, dean of the College of Nursing at King Saud University for Health Sciences at the National Guard in Jeddah, acknowledged that a small percentage of female nursing students gave up studying nursing due to family and community pressures.

Speaking at a press conference on the eve of an upcoming international conference on nursing in Jeddah, Yusuf said that many change professions after completing their studies.

Nevertheless, the number of Saudi female students studying nursing has drastically increased since 2001, said Sabah Abu Zinada, assistant director of the nursing department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center.

“Yet figures mean nothing since Saudi nurses are mostly found in major cities such as Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam. We face a shortage of female nursing staff in other smaller cities because their culture is against it,” she said.

“Families don’t allow their daughters to work as nurses because the job calls for long working hours, interacting with male patients and working night shifts at the hospital,” she said.

yes---it does-----you do a good job as apologist------very entertaining.
You made no point. Why not discuss the issue? The very first
muslim I knew well------a young surgeon ----from New Dehli. His
sister became a nurse-------well----she did not actually work at it---
she married---had kids---ended up in pakistan---living with her in-laws---
so she would not have to "GIVE UP HER CHILDREN" after her
husband DIVORCED HER In any case---
he described the community pressure against his family for allowing
his sister to become a nurse. My mother wanted ME to become
a nurse----My dad was against the idea. (USA ---circa 1960)---

I did not become a nurse-----HOWEVER----in the past 15 years---
there came to be an issue with MUSLIMS "I AM A MUSLIM"
~~~~ oooo 'yeah .......congrats'~~~~ooooo' "I WANT
A MAN DOCTOR" ~~~~ "oh sure ----one is coming in about
six hours----wait here........" The idiocy of the ummah has
ARRIVED in the USA
there seemed to be a baseless impression that ---meccaists do not
What does that have to do with nurses in Saudi Arabia?
You must be very low class to use the sort of language you do.........
So what? So fucking what? It's not your culture; it's none of your god damn business. And you are a racist for saying Filipino women are made for nursing. They are no different than women anywhere in the world, as multifaceted as any women anywhere. And, yes, Saudis do import nurses, from many countries. I know several Americans who are nurses in Saudi. It isn't your business how another culture does things. Stop judging and look toward yourself and your culture. I doubt it is perfect.
c'mon rosie, it is saturday. ain't ya sposed to be whackin' your head against some wall somewhere or perhaps, for lack of a wall, maybe you can head butt my gal pal, sal, a few times, sing a few verses of "hava tequila" and do one of those twirly hoor-ahh dances, fulfilling the snake thumper and bible charmer hossfry's, dreamfor your people of achieving rapture...or orgasm...whatever comes first, the lord and the battery store willin'.
jesus loves you, rosie, but you were never young. you were born old and vulgar.
During the 1st Gulf War, I was working on a project with the Saudi Land Forces and as a result I was working out of KKMC and the hospital there. All of the nurses there were from the Philippines as Saudis found nursing to be a very distasteful occupation.
Nothing new----the shariah cesspit system cannot function without
an underclass of "KAFFIRIN" This fact interests me because of
the manner in which I learned about the filth of shariah and ummah
societies. ---I learned FIRST from meccaists from southeast asia
who never failed to disparage hindus for their "caste system". Over
time I learned that for all its flaws-----the hindu caste system does not
come close to the horror of the SHARIAH SYSTEM. Thruout the
existence of the filth of meccaism-----meccaist dogs and pigs were
actually COMPELLED by the perversity of their creed ----to
invade, murder, pillage and rape and ENSLAVE in order to
survive. A meccaist society left to itself devolves into a
dung heap-----so well depicted in the movie LAWRENCE OF ARABIA---
Lawrence of arabia showed us Meccaist society in THE ABSENCE
of enslaved and exploited "kaffirin"-----brutal. filthy, illiterate
and impoverished
There is a whole host of NECESSARY vocations that the meccaist pigs
simply DO NOT DO. -----they need slaves to do it. Of course some
idiots are delighted to be enslaved for the support of
meccaist filth because TODAY---now that the wealth they sat on ---
to wit OIL------has made then wealthy because of the TECHNOLOGY
of kaffiin------they can PAY lots for that which they cannot do
themselves. However----most of the people who work for the
dogs of mecca----do so at very low wage and under oppression
simply because they are desperate. Without desperate persons
from southeast asia and the far east------to do the "dirty work"----
the emirates would cave.
I went to Egypt in 2009 to the joint US Egypt Nursing Conference. Egypt is in the midst of one of the most dire shortages of nurses of any country in the world. Their nursing schools turn out plenty of nurses. But as soon as they graduate they go to Saudi where they can made the big bucks. Back in the 80s, I myself thought about going to Saudi for a year to work. But I used the children as an excuse. Now, I see that would have been such a good experience for us all.
If you went to the hospital in the US, even though we too have a nursing shortage, you would expect to be called upon at least a couple of times in the shift by an RN. Maybe and LPN is caring for you, but the RN is in charge. In Egypt, they will only have one RN for an entire hospital. Their work load is brutal because of the shortage.
Poor Esmeralda must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed. Yeah, she knows many Americans who are nurses in Saudi Arabia just like I know many little green men living on the moon. Check any American hospital and you will find many, many Filipina nurses. Not only are the Filipinas good at nursing, but they are also great as caretakers for the elderly. As a doctor told me once, the Filipina caretakers of two of his patients were the reason the patients were still alive well into their 90s. Now you can go back to sleep, Esmeralda, and this time wake up without your potty mouth.
You are wrong. Countries of the middle east have looked to Americans to help them with their nursing profession. So it definitely is our business. I went to Egypt in 2009 on invitation to help teach them about 'evidence based nursing.' Just because you know Americans who are nurses in Saudi doesn't mean jack shit. Saudi is pulling the best from the other countries around them and those countries are suffering for it. Egypt can't keep up with the demand in their own country because as soon as nursing students graduate they go to Saudi to work where they are paid much larger salaries than in Egypt. The reality of the shortage in Egypt is that it is patently dangerous. Egypt simply can't staff their hospitals with RNs.
Egyptian health care, for one, is struggling because of this. They are trying to bring the profession there into the 21st century, but as of yet doesn't even have a licensing exam. If a student graduates from a nursing school in Egypt, he/she is a nurse, and yes, there are plenty of men studying nursing at Cairo University School of Nursing.
I do actually know several American nurses working in Saudi. One I know has a condo she bought in Bahrain, which I've been to. She works in Saudi, makes a lot of money, and bought a very nice 3 bedroom condo in Bahrain where she often spends weekends. She also makes enough money to travel all over the world. I know her and several of her friends, American women, who also work as nurses in Saudi. I travel and live around the world, and I meet all kinds of people. That you think I am lying is quite funny. You can't even imagine that I would know women who are nurses in Saudi, so you don't believe it. I also know American teachers who work in Saudi. You're a joke.
And you are a racist. Women from all over the world are good nurses and good at many other professions. To say any one race is better at one profession than another is racist. There are many Filipino nurses and caretakers in American hospitals and elsewhere because it is a common profession for women, and there are many from the Philippines who work in America and other places because the Philippines is a poor country, not because they are natural at nursing. Anyone with half a brain would be able to figure that out.
