RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Arab Knesset member Hanin Zoabi stated that Israel's racist and ethnic cleansing policies against the Palestinians are much worse than it was in South Africa during the apartheid time.
Zoabi made her remarks on Sunday addressing the Russell tribunal on Palestine in the South African city of Cape Town.
She castigated the repressive policies pursued by Israel as an occupation entity against the indigenous people of Palestine especially in the 1948 occupied lands.
"It is not only we are considered citizens of second class in the eyes of the occupation state or that our citizenship is conditional on pledging allegiance to Zionism and the Jewish state, but it goes beyond that to the extent we are seen by this state as enemies and a strategic threat," the Knesset member told the tribunal.
She explained that there are more than 40 laws devised by the Israeli apartheid regime which are intended for racial discrimination against Palestinian citizens in their occupied lands.
"Israel is dealing with us as if we are invaders of our own land. In South Africa, the ethnic cleansing took place in certain areas, but in Israel there has been ethnic cleansing against 85 percent of the Palestinian people in all areas occupied in 1948, so the talk is about a policy more racist than the apartheid, but it is less exposed and apparent," she added.
