Certainly nobody can accuse him of cowardice. he is determined to stay in Kiev to the bloody end. Not typical politician. Most would never do that. He had the chance to evacuate and did not. The captain goes down with his ship.

It's imperative that he portray himself this way to show strength and resolve that his side can win this war.
