The offensive was a disaster we know that. Russia has essentially taken back everything gained in the offensive. The lines havent really moved significantly in a long time. The average age of Ukrainians fighting in this war is now over 40, and it's moving in the wrong direction. They are rounding up people off the street to fill the ranks. That's not a sign of a war effort that's going well. The ideal outcome is Ukraine wins in spectacular fashion and convinces Russia for all time that any intentions of invading are futile into the infinite future. The likely outcome is that this dragged on until after the election and then Zelensky is pulled aside and told you're gonna have to settle. Support for this war has little to do with US interests at this point.

So?? EU/NATO countries have many ways to make Russia pay the reparations if they want to get sanctions lifted and sell their energy to the west.

Like paying out from currently held up Russian reserves in the west and reparation tax from all energy sales out of Russia.
