Your guide to manmade climate disasters in the world today

I will update this thread most days as the earh dies screaming.
Lets start in Espana.

Scientists say extreme weather such as heatwaves and storms is becoming more intense as a result of the climate crisis.

51 dead in a sun parched area of Spain. Nothing to see here. Floods have become common place in Spain over the last few years. They are going to have to work out how to live with the results of climate breakdown,

A major worry is that this area provides much of our food. At the very least floods caused by climate change are inflationary. At worst 50 people die.

The real disaster was Spain depends on renewable energy had a nation wide blackout.

LOL!!!

So, is "global warming" causing more fires or more droughts, or don't you have an IQ over 5 to notice it cannot be both at the same time...

????????????
Now that is the kind of reply that one expects from a liar and idiot. LOL Of course it is easy to demonstrate have warming is causing both, but it is useless to do this for someone with as low a comprehension as yours.

The real disaster was Spain depends on renewable energy had a nation wide blackout.
And Texas with gas, coal, and nuclear, had a huge blackout due to weather. Plus it was a technological screwup, not the use of renewables that caused that blackout;

The electric blackout in Spain on April 28, 2025, was caused by significant fluctuations in the electrical grid, leading to a disconnection from the European system and a collapse of the Iberian electricity network.

Overview of the Blackout

On April 28, 2025, a major power blackout affected the Iberian Peninsula, impacting both Spain and Portugal. The outage began around 12:33 PM CEST and lasted for approximately ten hours in many areas, causing severe disruptions in telecommunications, transportation, and emergency services. Reports indicated that at least eight fatalities were linked to the blackout due to related incidents, such as fires from candles and generator exhaust fumes.

Causes of the Blackout

  1. Grid Fluctuations: The blackout was triggered by two significant disconnection events in the electrical grid. The first event was manageable, but the second led to a massive disconnection, causing Spain's power system to detach from the European grid.

    2
  2. Renewable Energy Impact: Prior to the blackout, Spain was generating a substantial amount of its electricity from renewable sources, particularly solar energy. However, a sudden drop in solar power generation was observed, which was attributed to an automated command that disconnected several solar facilities from the grid. This disconnection contributed to the instability of the grid.

    2
  3. Technical Failures: Investigations suggest that the blackout may have been exacerbated by technical failures in the synchronization of the grid. The grid requires stable base-load power from sources like nuclear and large hydroelectric plants to maintain frequency stability. The sudden fluctuations in generation, particularly from variable renewable sources, may have disrupted this balance.

    2
  4. External Factors: There were also indications that France had stopped importing electricity from Spain shortly before the blackout, which may have deepened the imbalance between supply and demand.

Ongoing Investigations

Authorities in Spain and Portugal are conducting investigations to determine the exact causes of the blackout. While there has been speculation about the role of renewable energy, experts have largely ruled out this connection, emphasizing that the technology is capable of supporting grid stability when properly integrated. The Spanish Prime Minister has also dismissed claims linking the blackout to renewable energy as misinformation.

Do apu agree with you that water causes ice???

BTW, that was the BS from the "Day After Tomorrow" movie, that "global warming" "can cause an ice age" by altering ocean currents....

.....

except water isn't cold enough to cause ice, because if it was, IT WOULD BE ICE

duh....
Duh, is right, you are that ******* stupid. A major slowing or cessation of the AMOC would not cause instant ice age, that was a rather silly notion in that movie. However, it would result in a much colder Europe and Eastern Seaboard in North America. We know that from the Younger Dryas.

Your link made this claim but no evidence is presented to back it up while the article seems to focus on just one storm.

"Flooding is one of the most significant weather-related hazards in Spain, affecting thousands of people every year. With torrential rains becoming increasingly common, each autonomous community has developed its own emergency plans and guidelines to mitigate risks and protect residents."

You are so easily manipulated by the media........

Meanwhile this is based on actual published papers showing that Catastrophic floods in Spain happened quite a lot going back to the 1400's.

A History Of Catastrophic Flooding In Spain

But real scientists know that there is a long history of catastrophic floods in Spain:

Yeah, you think you know everything about Spain from one webpage huh?

"Floods kill five in Spain"
Tuesday, 24 October, 2000

"At least five people have been killed and three are missing in floods that have been sweeping through eastern Spain since the weekend."
"
Floods in Spain disrupt flights and traffic"

Wed Oct 09 2002

"Authorities triggered emergency response measures as floods brought rail and road traffic to a halt in northeast Spain today and grounded more than 90 flights."

Yeah? No floods every happened in Spain before.

What an ABSOLUTE MORON....

When Earth does actually warm, which it isn't now, oceans warm, and when oceans warm, more H2O is emitted into atmosphere, causing more rain, which reduces fires and droughts, and increases flooding...

DUH....

Those who have forced renewable energy on a country are never going to admit they will never meet demand and cause frequent blackouts. As nations increase use of AI and server banks energy demands will skyrocket and green energy will never be able to supply that. Thats why America has stopped subsidies and is producing energy with fossil fuels and nuclear. Europe will force manufacturers to leave and come here

Nothing to see here. It looks even worse than the trump floods that killed those little girls in rexas.

It is nothing out of the ordinary as floods have happened before, but now with millions of people invading flood prone regions of their countries there is a greater chance they get caught up in it while there is no actual increase in flooding incidence at the same time.

there is no actual increase in flooding incidence
Google says otherwise:
AI Overview

Your statement is inaccurate; evidence confirms that the incidence of flooding has been increasing due to a combination of climate change and human activity. While trends vary significantly by region and flood type, the overall risk and impact of flooding are rising globally.

Shithole countries never had monsoons before global warming, eh?

Since your post one crap has been thoroughly refuted, you bring in the irrelevant hot year crap as your pathetic deflection, the MET has been exposed as being dishonest and unreliable as they were caught using 103 station data that doesn't exist, they made it up!

Notice that little Tommy ignored post #247 that refuted his dishonest post one flooding claims and also ignored post #229 that destroys his dishonest wildfire claims.

Now you run to a single year hot year diatribe that is normally considered at best as warm, you seem unaware that summers in the UK are much cooler than most of the world.

Here are the average temperature for June-August in my area in SE Eastern Washington.

June is 68F (20C)

July is 75F (24C)

August is 68F (20C)

Yet the region has over 322,000 people living in it I am 65 years old not having problems with it at all while you soft Brits can't handle "sizzling" heat that is about 9C cooler than my average summers.

It is a LOT hotter in many cities such as Las Vegas (2.4 million) and Pheonix (1.7 million) Arizona that live with far higher temperatures than I do which is far warmer than your lukewarm UK.
