Your Government Owes You a Job

Personally, I'm fond of Boomers....

Very fond...you just want them to die as soon as possible is all...

*Not only is this a left talking point that illustrates the mentality that we are trying to deny something we preciously had or could have had.

You generation is asking for a guarantee of good health and life devoid of work or responsibilities!!

The older generations had no such guarantee, but yet somehow I and millions of others now have the responsibilities to care for leeches on today's society. Where are your responsibilities?? When do you put in the work and do your part?? When do you become a RESPONSIBLE MEMBER OF SOCIETY??

So now when you make that claim he and others want anyone to die, we both know that is low life lie told to gin up your base ....
We are not cold, cruel, in compassionate, nor do we wish to see anyone die!!
Now a little food for thought, just like Marc Twain, I have never killed anyone, but I have read a few obituaries that put smiles on my face ... yours would certainly be one of those with the attitude you have!!

If you had read his comments on the other discussion to which I was alluding you would not sound so utterly foolish right now.

1. why are you stalking me?

2. feel free to serve-up a link to those comments, to let folks judge for themselves, whether I was referring to population-reduction through simple attrition, as the Boomer Generation dies-off over the next 20-30 years, and as that particular burden upon the Social Security system passed from the scene, or whether there was some malevolent intent or another, directed against my own generation - let 'em see the entire range of context, and how it was used, and then contemplate how any sane, reasonable, objective person - with no particular agenda or dog in the immigration fight - would interpret such remarks. I have no trouble with the idea of my colleagues (peers and fellow-posters) judging my Boomer Die-Off comments for themselves, and will be content to let judgment rest in their hands.

(not that I imagine for one moment that very many would have even the vaguest interest in digging deeper into this, following-up on your one-sided pissing contest, but, of course, they're quite welcome to do so)

3. what has any of this to do with the topic at-hand?

4. Is it OK with you if we get back to the topic of this thread now?

I posted on this thread before you did. Stop being a little *****.

Bad ideas keep coming around again. Like the last time they failed is forgotten and lost in a sea of dreams.

.
Was the WPA a bad idea?

"The Works Progress Administration (renamed in 1939 as the Work Projects Administration; WPA) was the largest and most ambitious New Deal agency, employing millions of unemployed people (mostly unskilled men) to carry out public works projects,[1] including the construction of public buildings and roads. In a much smaller but more famous project, the Federal Project Number One, the WPA employed musicians, artists, writers, actors and directors in large arts, drama, media, and literacy projects."

Works Progress Administration - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is no better time than today to bring back the WPA

Construction jobs are down, we need major infrastrcture upgrades, wages are low, interest rates are low

A perfect storm to encourage hiring millions of workers

Yeah, but where is the money gonna come from, to pay for all that?

Wasn't the WPA a Hyper-Emergency measure, that skirted the edges of the Constitution, and what SCOTUS was willing to sit still for?

Folks bellyache enough about something as modest and selective as a WIA-grant -like job training program.

I think you'd send a sizable percentage of the voting public into an apoplexy fit by bringing back a WPA -like critter.

Doesn't need to be run like the WPA

Can be done through the private sector

This is not about who posted first within the thread.

This is about who is throwing rocks and misrepresenting positions - that rightfully belong elsewhere - unprovoked, and off-topic.

That constitutes 'stalking', in a blogging forum context, by any reasonable standard.

I suggest you cease and desist.

Sounds outlandish, doesn't it?

"A right to a job may sound outlandish, but itÂ’s common sense. You need dollars to eat, and unless you steal the dollars, you generally have to earn them.

"If the government wants to protect property with cops, courts, and prisons, issue a single, common currency, and tax and fine us in it, it should at least guarantee we can work for our own dollars.

"Politicians ramble about equality of opportunity and the dignity of work, but to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, we need boots.

"And lest our boots stomp each otherÂ’s necks in senseless competition for too few jobs, we need a job guarantee.

"A job guarantee isnÂ’t that radical.

"Thomas Paine proposed one in 1791.

"In 1944, FDR included the right to a living wage job in his Second Bill of Rights and his Republican opponent promised state-ensured employment.

"The Universal Declaration of Human Rights enshrined the right to work and philosophers Rawls and Dewey advocated government provide enough work.

"LBJ deliberated a JG and Martin Luther King Jr., demanded one."

Your Government Owes You a Job | The Nation

Since US Capitalism prefers extracting wealth as opposed to producing wealth leading to a situation where median household income today, adjusted for inflation, is lower than it was in 1989, it becomes clear that US capitalism no longer delivers the goods for a majority of its citizens.

The democratic solution calls for government to provide what the private sector is no longer capable of providing.
Curious, where does the money come from?

No, getting a private-sector job works. Government make-work doesn't work.

Improving our public infrastructure is not "make work". Our infrastructure has been ignored for almost 50 years. Roads, bridges, water systems, sewers, Communications, power grid

All need massive improvements. Better to do it now when a workforce is available, interest rates are low than wait till all the workers are employed and demanding higher salaries

Two things..One..Funding. From where?
Two.....Workers....From where? Do you really think those able bodied people who are living off the dole are going to get off their asses and apply for physically demanding labor intensive jobs?
No, those currently employed or marginally employed will take those jobs because no doubt the Obama admin suck up to the union thugs that support him. There will be a mandate for union scale to be maintained. That will triple the cost of every project.

Granted.

But I still have no clue how we're gonna pay for it.

We can't keep floating bond issues forever.

Even the Chinese aren't dumb enough to buy another massive issue, the way things stand nowadays.

Then contract it out to private companies who will in turn hire people to do the work.

This is not about who posted first within the thread.....

I suggest you stop being a hypocrite and you won't have to worry about it.
I suggest you mind your own business, bigmouth, and leave this thread to folks who want to discuss the topic at hand.

If you want a piece of me, take it to the Flame Zone or the Badlands, and I'll be happy to stop by and to kick your scrawny ass from one side of the sub-forum to another, and expose your accusations for the lies they truly are.

Meanwhile, get off my back.

This has nothing do with the Government manipulation of the Job Market.

I will not respond to further provocation from you in this thread.
