The idea that seeing evidence is unnecessary because you believe to know the verdict before the actual trial is concluded is wrong firstly because that is not how one EVER conducts a trial. Give me one example of any trial where the prosecution is not allowed to present its full case? If the facts and the witnesses truly would be on the side of Trump they would be eager to allow it. You blew right past what I was saying. A trail is a proceeding that by its very nature requires that BOTH sides present their full case. The likely verdict has absolutely no bearing on that. In fact, as I said the whole argument you are making is an indictment for Republicans who took an OATH to acts as an impartial jury before to trail started. It is described in the constitution that way.

And by the way, impeachment is by it's nature a political procedure. By saying that the verdict is a foregone conclusion you admitted that the GOP is breaking 2 oaths they took. each Senator to swear or affirm that he will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws. Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), co-chairs of the bipartisan Senate Ukraine Caucus, and Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on European Affairs spearheaded a letter expressing concern to Ukrainian President Poroshenko regarding the recent resignation of Minister of Economy Aivaras Abromavi?ius, who has alleged that corruption remains a dire challenge within the Ukrainian political system. In the letter, Portman, Durbin, and Shaheen said they recognized the challenges facing the Ukrainian government two years after the Maidan brought positive change to Ukraine. They also reaffirmed their commitment to help President Poroshenko confront the duel threat posed by Russian aggression in Ukraine as well as entrenched corruption in the government and to create a transparent and democratic government. The letter was also signed by Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI), Chris Murphy (D-CT), Mark Kirk (R-IL), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Sherrod Brown (D-OH).

“We recognize ‎that your governing coalition faces not only endemic corruption left from decades of mismanagement and cronyism, but also an illegal armed seizure of territory by Russia and its proxies,” the senators wrote. “Tackling such obstacles to reforms amidst a war and the loss of much of southeastern Ukraine’s economic productivity is a formidable challenge -- one which we remain committed to helping you overcome.”

There was no Biden corruption. trump knows this.

There is no reason for anyone to testify since we all know that the end result will be acquittal.

The idea that seeing evidence is unnecessary because you believe to know the verdict before the actual trial is concluded is wrong firstly because that is not how one EVER conducts a trial. More importantly, the idea by itself shows how far the GOP has gone in subverting the rule of law itself in defense of Trump.

Give me one example of any trial where the prosecution is not allowed to present its full case? If the facts and the witnesses truly would be on the side of Trump they would be eager to allow it. If Bolton is lying put him on the stand let him perjure himself and that would be a win if the facts are on your side. Yet nothing.

This president used the power of his office to try to damage his political rival. You know it, I know it, the GOP knows it. The only defense you can make that is intellectually honest is that you don't care. If you don't that is appalling but it has at least the virtue of being true.

Again, since we all know that the end result of this trial will be acquittal, there is no point in calling witnesses and the Democrats wanting to extend the trial for purely political not for legal purposes shows they have no respect for the institutions of government or for the American people.

You blew right past what I was saying. A trail is a proceeding that by its very nature requires that BOTH sides present their full case. The likely verdict has absolutely no bearing on that. In fact, as I said the whole argument you are making is an indictment for Republicans who took an OATH to acts as an impartial jury before to trail started. It is described in the constitution that way.

And by the way, impeachment is by it's nature a political procedure. By saying that the verdict is a foregone conclusion you admitted that the GOP is breaking 2 oaths they took. each Senator to swear or affirm that he will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws. Just as the House defines its own rules for impeachment, the Senate gets to define its own rules for the trial so there is not right or wrong way to proceed. If you want to compare this to a regular criminal trial, no prosecutor would go to trial if he knew he would lose, so if the Democrats had acted in good faith, this trial never would have taken place and there would be no call for witnesses.

No, they don't take themselves seriously. If you swear an oath to do something without having the decency to even pretend you will take it seriously makes you a joke. It demeans the office you are holding. It is in itself perjury. And it shows that you consider the constitution as something you can toss aside.
