Trump is just setting the stage for the next Republican President, should there be one in 2028. 4 million per year doesn't sound like a lot, considering there were most likely well over 20 million illegals when Trump took office. But as in a triage, the first thing to do is stop the bleeding. President Trump has done a great job of that so far, illegals are far less likely to want to come here now.

That is really what it is all about. The goal of the whole ballgame is to discourage them from coming here illegally in the first place. That is the number one biggest factor in stopping illegal immigration.

I worked in retail for many a moon and was an inventory/shrinkage expert. If you're main strategy is to catch shoplifters after they have already stolen something then that is a losing strategy because, like cockroaches, whenever you get one, there are a ton of others that you didn't get. The best way to stop shoplifting is to put policies in place so they don't steal in the first place, or, better yet, go somewhere else to steal that has more lax policies.
