YOu have to make $100K to afford McDonalds

This has been happening for a long time. Only thing Trump is doing is to continue making it all worse.

When I retired in 2020 you could get two sausage mcmuffins and a large diet coke for $3.00.

Now it's between $5 and $6. It didn't just happen the last couple months.

If you are poor or even middle class you likely cannot afford to eat out, even at fast food places.

This is what trump is doing to our economy.

YOu know that inflation works on the whole economy.
Gas prices are down, so are eggs. This in addition to McDonalds getting the best prices due to their purchasing power.

If McDondalds can ask for those prices and receive, then they will. They've been doing this since covid, it's been a racket and consumers have to stop supporting those who exploit them.

I'd love to see workers at mcdonalds making $40 per hour. That would make people's heads explode. "Oh my its so bad burger flippers are getting paid that" and other nonsense. Of course it can't happen but I'd just love to see the shock value.

Actually, during times of economic downturn, like the pending recession, McDonald's fares pretty well. During the Great Recession, their stock didn't even take a hit.

People turn to cheap food when times are rough.

Your link mentions declining traffic at Taco Bell, too. Come on. A taco costs, what, $1.79?

There's more at play here than income. I would not rush to make a correlation/causation mistake.

The thing is, cheap food is no longer cheap.

Your link says sales dropped off in the first quarter of this year. It's quite a stretch to put that on Trump.

"Liberation Day" was April 2, after the first quarter.

I don't think people were making taco purchase decisions based on whatever Trump was doing at the time.

That would be due to inflation during the Biden era.

Again, you can't really put that on Trump, except as an indirect cause of that inflation.

California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington all have a $15 or higher minimum wage.

Washington has the highest minimum wage at $16.66.

That's going to drive up fast food costs.
