We need to turn soft yellow coal into diesel fuel. It is an inexpensive process for a type of coal that is unusable. (We only burn anthracite/hard coal)
EPA regulations make it impossible to do though... because we can't get approval for the refinery site. Just like we can't get land for any more refineries on land either.
That would do it...it would take a couple of years to build and get infrastructure in place...but that would do the trick...the fear of production would cause OPEC to open the spigot and let the oil flow.
