I read such a great op-ed tonight in the L.A. Times. I'd love to share it:

With all its flaws, the Senate health bill would be the biggest expansion of the social safety net since Medicare, greatly improving the lives of millions. Getting this bill would be much, much better than watching health care reform fail. Flawed social insurance programs have tended to get better over time, the story of health reform suggests that rejecting an imperfect deal in the hope of eventually getting something better is a recipe for getting nothing at all.

At its core, the bill would do two things. First, it would prohibit discrimination by insurance companies on the basis of medical condition or history: Americans could no longer be denied health insurance because of a pre-existing condition, or have their insurance canceled when they get sick. Second, the bill would provide substantial financial aid to those who don’t get insurance through their employers, as well as tax breaks for small employers that do provide insurance.

All of this would be paid for in large part with the first serious effort ever to rein in rising health care costs.

Exactly, the bill which the CBO accounted for the 467 Billion in Medicare cuts when everyone on the planet knows that NO Congress will ever cut Medicare. They will waive the cuts year after year, and you can flush the CBO accounting.

I saw someone post the positives of this bill. I think two drunks down in an alley could have come up with those ideas, and this is the only thing Democrats could come up with after DECADES of planning and debate?

No wonder we have the government we have, the bar is set pretty damn low for many folks.

Sorry, the Medicare cuts in this bill were 483 billion, so now the costs of this bill will be closer to 1.3 trillion over ten years. We all know that will likely double.

Is it any wonder the communist Chinese, who hold 2.4 trillion of our debt, just came out with a statement that foreign governments can no longer be expected to carry new American debt? The timing is a message to our corrupt Democrats.

I see little legislation in this bill we shouldn't have had a century ago anyways, or any idea which should cost 867 BILLION over ten years if you count the Medicare cuts.

If anyone here supports this bill, what are you smoking, and where can we get some. Geezus. The entire nation is against this bill, I just need to know who actually supports this besides a few hundred corrupt Washington politicians.
