Yes it's a good idea - Let's eliminate the Department of Education

DC Public schools is one of the most expensive per capita spend for students at $27k and the system is replete with comparatively lower graduation rates and reading and math scores.

Institute vouchers so Kavanaugh can get a subsidy to send his kids to the Tony private school they attend, and watch DC lay off teachers to pay for it.

Or you could address the post. You won’t because the statistics prove you wrong without a shadow of a doubt.

Along with 2,000 other federal agencies running our lives.

The major driver of support for vouchers is white people who want subsidies so they can send their kids to private schools so they don’t have to be with “those people”.

Vouchers would radically accelerate the inequalities. Which is really what voucher advocates want. Resources have to be stolen fro, public schools to subsidize vouchers.

Outside right wing and evangelical world, this is not a significant issue.
you are contradicting yourself. Your premise is that private schools are for whites who don’t want to go to school with “those people”. Well, the majority of voucher demand comes from urban “those people” who get the voucher and send their kids to private schools dominated by whites which you say don’t want to be in school with “those people”. But, you say the whites are attracted to a so/called subsidy or cost defray by having those people in the classroom. So in a class of 25-30 kids, how many voucher students would there be? 3-4 maybe? Not much of an incentive to offset the notion of being in school with “those people”.

Your theory contradicts itself and falls flat.

Talk real numbers. If Kavanaugh’s kids are $10k per year, how many voucher kids need to go to be placed in the classroom so he gets that 100 percent subsidy? If a voucher student takes the place of a paying student, where/how/why do the rest of the students get cost defrayed?

Also, in the current state, DC is having a difficult time hiring and retaining teachers.

Just google it simpleton.

No, I don’t need to back up your claims.

Right wingers do this all the time.

If you don’t have the integrity to stand behind your own claims, it’s not my problem.

If all the very privileged kids in Kavanaugh’s tony subdivision got it, I’d say a dozen. Particularly if the subsidy is 100% (your number)

I guarantee you that no school in that area is anywhere near that cheap.

Are those agencies bad for the country? Should society band together for fire departments? Does USPS serve a valid and necessary function? What about NOAA? Is that a valid function for government?
Seriously? Ever heard of UPS, FedEx, DHL?

Ever heard of volunteer fire departments? Ever heard of the top reason for house fires? Ever heard of responsibility versus enablement?

Yes, I've heard of all those things. I'm wondering if your unstated point is that government should provide no service at all to citizens except to tax them?

So you have heard of them. Make the next logical step.

And no service at all? Then what would the taxes be for?

I guarantee you no private school is positioned or incentivized to take up to 50 percent of their classroom being voucher students. In the one hand, you are saying these schools are dominated by whites that don’t want to be in school with Blacks but want to have their own kids’ tuition to be subsidized. Show us an instance.

That is a sorry old right wing trope. Nothing more.

The NEA always campaigns for more funding for public education. It’s their job to promote education.

Vouchers are just a plot to subsidize private schools by taking money out of public education. in other words, a cry for privilege, at the direct expense of the disadvantaged.
In my mammoth local school district, the NEA garnishes public school teachers wages for union dues — whether they agree to partake or not — and then donates to the DNC.

But it hasn’t. Our educational system has digressed yearly since Carter, a Democrat, created the DOA.

Schools should be run state by state and county by county. If lunatics in the NE and on the West Coast want to ruin their kids, that is on them. I have a feeling that there are some normal families in those states that would kick the lefty loons to the curb.
The whole idea pushing public schools is to have literate wage slaves and military members that can read. The rest is for those that have a brain to be able to get more education for other positions in society.

The purpose of public education is to teach the youngsters to submit to the authority of the state.
