Yes it's a good idea - Let's eliminate the Department of Education

Leftist Politician Fined for Faking Neo-Nazi Hate Crimes Against Himself

Manoj Jansen, a former councillor for the German Greens, was handed a €3,600 (~$3,814) fine by a court in Germany on Wednesday after it was found that he had faked a number of neo-nazi hate crimes against himself.

Jansen had claimed that he was the victim of repeated far-right attacks and hate crimes, with the politician reportedly having his property vandalised and emblazoned with swastikas and SS runes by suspected neo-nazis.

My taxes are not going to a private school, fuck yer socialism.
Your taxes are going to schools that are falling way short of their mission. Students are graduating as young adults and cannot read or do basic arithmetic. Unions sit idle and watch schools fail.

Which union?

Because our education system is working so well now?
American schools have high student-to-teacher ratios driven by a massive K-12 teacher shortage. Faced with disciplinary problems and low school funding, schools have focused on staffing classrooms at all costs. That means larger class sizes — and teaching quality problems

I will ask again what happened to the parents teaching their children?

Which union?
The NEA. They use the plight of students in failing schools to get more money yet the money never seems to be spent properly..

The unions fight vouchers like the a disease because if there are not enough bodies in under performing schools, then that is less money for the union.

It is less money for the schools which are underfunded...

Why and how are they under-funded? Whose fault is that? How closely is the money allocated being accounted for? That’s a failure of the bureaucracy and the union - not the greedy taxpayer.

Or the reduction in funding by the state legislature.

Always an excuse…It couldn’t be that you’re focused on the wrong things eh?

That is a sorry old right wing trope. Nothing more.

The NEA always campaigns for more funding for public education. It’s their job to promote education.

Vouchers are just a plot to subsidize private schools by taking money out of public education. in other words, a cry for privilege, at the direct expense of the disadvantaged.

People like you who always attack education and write uninformed stereotype laden screeds about it.

If they were doing their job aligned with the mission you state, there would be little or no demand for vouchers. I’d be happy if there were no need or demand for vouchers but the test scores, facilities, and inequities throughout public schools say otherwise. Considering public school administration and unions (NEA) are dominated by Democrats, these shouldn’t be issues. The constant disrepair and poor outcomes are just catalysts for Democrats to come back for more money.

DC Public schools is one of the most expensive per capita spend for students at $27k and the system is replete with comparatively lower graduation rates and reading and math scores.

The Feds need to be out of the way of educating our children

The major driver of support for vouchers is white people who want subsidies so they can send their kids to private schools so they don’t have to be with “those people”.

Vouchers would radically accelerate the inequalities. Which is really what voucher advocates want. Resources have to be stolen fro, public schools to subsidize vouchers.

Outside right wing and evangelical world, this is not a significant issue.
