WSJ: Trump needs to apologize to W; he is following the Bush agenda.

I stand corrected. It is up to Congress to rein in the war powers of the president.

Odd how you are arguing that presidents are unable to control themselves or live up to their promises.

Unfortunately, I don't think that will happen in the near future. Whenever a president is elected and his party controls Congress, they are unlikely to take any power away. It is just the way it is.

Especially when politicians know they will never be held accountable.

I never argued that a President is "unable" to control themselves or live up to their promises.

They should, but when they don't, that is why you have checks and balances. But if the checks don't work then we end up where we are now.

Yes you did.

Sad we can't take a president at his word.

And we all remember how that turned out....NO WMD and the Iraqi people were fucked over big time.
$ 3 trillion dollars spent 4,400 dead and another 20,000+ wounded in a search for WMDs that we KNEW didn`t exist. They wanted to lock up "crooked Hillary" for using email, but they gave Gomer a pass for lying us into war. It`s possible that Gomer had no idea that there were no WMDs, and he was given a pass because he`s stupid.

What checks are failing?

You aren't actually taking the position that Article II powers require permission from the Article I body, are you?

That is the stupidest argument made to date regarding Venezuela.

1. It was a police action, not an effin war nor an invasion.
2. Congress has put a stipulation on Article II powers in that when a President exercises legitimate military power, that action must be reported to Congress within 48 hours.

All of that is legal and has been done in the appropriate order.
