I'd like to see a group of WWE wrestlers in every weight class (male and female) stripped of their face paint, capes, colorful clothing, and other nonsense - given standard NCAA wrestling uniforms and deposited at Penn State, Iowa, or Oklahoma State to face the best college wrestlers under NCAA rules. - - - No turnbuckles to jump off, no ropes to tie people in, no fake head smashes, no brainless bimbo's dancing around, no stupid speeches. Just 1 on 1.

- and let's see just how good these "professionals" really are!

you dont know much about the pro guys do you?...all they are are big stunt men....some were amateurs like these guys....

  • Kurt Angle: 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist in freestyle wrestling.
  • Brock Lesnar: 2000 NCAA Division I Heavyweight Champion.
  • Bobby Lashley: NAIA National Champion and Army freestyle champion.
  • Chad Gable: 2012 Olympian in Greco-Roman wrestling.
  • Shelton Benjamin: Two-time All-American at the University of Minnesota.
  • Jack Swagger (Jake Hager): All-American collegiate wrestler.
  • Daniel Puder: Undefeated MMA fighter and tough-man competitor.
Other Notable Amateurs Turned Pros:

1. Kurt Angle was the most feared and respected WWE superstar. Even Brock Lesner respected him.

2. All these WWE athletes are athletes. Acrobats, stunt men types, former athletes, gymnastics, body builders. I too am curious who's really tough and who's not.

3. CM punk tried MMA. I'd like to see him FIGHT a college wrestler. My money would be on the college wrestler, but maybe that wrestler doesn't know how to fight?

4. Brock Lesner won a MMA title. That cements him as a legend. He wasn't that great of a fighter, but good enough to win a title in UFC so you have to give him his respect.

So no not every guy is tough but I bet a lot of them are.

Scott Steiner was a legendary wrestler and WWE superstar. His kid is now in WWE. Think he's tough?

A lot, I'd even suppose most, of these TV performers were real wrestlers in their youth. A lot of them damn good ones. I don't think this experiment would work out because the TV guys would supposedly have to make weight at a specific weight class. That takes it out of you more than you might think. More importantly, it is highly unlikely many of the TV guys would have the conditioning to hang with well-trained NCAA D1 wrestlers for a full 7 minute match. I would expect them to gas out or just be out-classed technically in the context of a real wrestling match with someone of their weight class. Gotta remember most of these TV guys are not kids anymore. It's one thing to inject steroids into your ass every day and flex, but it's another thing to be in real wrestling shape.

They certainly aren't training like a ncaa wrestler. Remember I told you Olympic Gold Medalist Steve Fraser got in a fight with the UofM coach and he quit so he was an assistant coach for us in the town next door? EMU is in Ypsi. So while he was looking for a better gig, he came to help us when I was there. Lucky me. I had an easy coach in highschool. The reason the assistant coach was our assistant coach was he was too tough on the kids. I would have probably quit in highschool if he was the coach.

So while going to college, we trained like Steve Fraser trained for the Olympics. 3 a days. I asked him, "hey coach, were you going to college when you trained for the Olympics?" and he said no. I didn't think so. 12 credit hours and wrestle? I don't know how you did both. But in my defense, I also had to work for spending money too. So I was night watchman till 2am, then had to go run 3-5 miles at 6am? No freakin way. My sister in laws say shame on my parents for not giving me $200 a month spending money so I didn't have to work too. Then I would have stuck with wrestling.

My friends think Ronda Rousey could beat me in my prime in college. Do you think she could beat a scrub college wrestler? 155 pounder?

Anyways, can you imagine the WWE training regiment? It's all about looking good. And I'm sure the guys who are known for long matches do cardio. Or they are just in great shape to do a 60 minute match.

I was thinking Seth Rollins and AJ Styles. They do great long matches

Several WWE stars are renowned for competing in exceptionally long, high-stamina matches, particularly main-eventers and workhorses known for technical excellence and endurance. Top names include Randy Orton, John Cena, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H, who often dominated WrestleMania ring time.

I was working on two degrees simultaneously, training up to 8 hours a day, working 3 part time jobs, and chasing girls around campus. Ah, to be young.

You had/have more energy than me. I HATED running before wrestling practice. Hated dieting. PLUS you are probably smarter than me in school. I struggled. Don't know if I told you but I was born a poor black child in Detroit. When I moved to the suburbs the counselor actually came to my home to tell my mother, besides what she taught me, I learned nothing at that Detroit Public School. Of the top 10 worst schools in Michigan, my middle school was #10. The rest were high schools. What I'm saying is I got a bad start at learning how to learn. In the suburbs I was charming and allowed to get away with not doing homework, studying, or caring at all whatsoever. I was a distraction to the rest of the class. You should see my report cards. My parents saved them and my nephews laugh. But don't judge me too harshly. My brothers report cards were just as bad. He struggled too his freshman year of college and that was without playing a sport. He almost flunked out. So did I my freshman year. Even after quitting wrestling I got a C, C, C and C- that semester. I was thrilled!!! But that's under 2.0 and puts you on academic probation. One more year like that they throw me out. That's the year I learned how to study. I learned that college teachers won't let you skate by like high school teachers do. You probably have some slackers you just let get by.

Howard Stern was talking about when he was young he had boundless energy like Taylor Swift or Ryan Seacrest who seems to have 5 jobs at one time.

Here's the difference between you and me. You have the freakin energy to go coach kids after schools done? No freakin way. I'm out of there. I want to go home and be with my family or dog asap not at wrestling practice till 8pm 5 days a week. No way.

I will admit that one time during an early morning team run me and a buddy let ourselves drop behind the rest a bit then stopped and hailed a cab (you could do that back then). We got out near the end of the route, waited around the corner until we saw the group returning then poured water over our heads to look like we had been sweating heavily, and pulled a Rosie Ruiz. Breathing heavily, hands on knees; worked perfectly.

I bet you were an upper classman when you pulled that move. I was red shirt and working night security till 2am so I started skipping the morning runs. The coaches rode me every practice. That helped me decide to quit. What was I being tortured for? And missing the Thursday night parties in the back yard of what would become my future fraternity. OMG what you missed being on the wrestling team. Would I have stuck it out if they gave me a full ride? Probably. But for $1500 a year when it costs $5000 a year? Forget it!

Did you win states in High school and get a full ride?

For the record, my buddy who won his weight in states got a full ride and quit the same day I did. Made me feel like I made the right decision. If he gave up $5000 because it wasn't worth it.

Difference between him and me? I didn't quit college. I finished. He dropped out of college too.

No one who knew me then (and some of my best friends still now) would say I missed a thing.

Work hard, play hard.

They’re actors...completely different skillset. One of the things I’m most ashamed of is the hours and hours I wasted watching that crap when I was a kid.

You can’t look like most of those guys and not be an athlete. Not possible

On Smackdown last night and today's Royal Rumble, the stadium was 3//4 empty. This is not good. This is the privileged paying for the product with no regard for the peasants. It's like the Prog politicians living the life of riley wasting massive resources for their privileges while the peasants linger on. WWE needs to cut the cord with Saudi Arabia.

Did you strain a muscle doing those contortions to make a lame and irrelevant political jab based on wrestling audience attendance?

To be honest, WWE wrestling was on every week and I checked it out but was taken off and replaced by college football. Pretty bad when you lose to college football.

To be sure, long a fan of good wrestling and having seen all of the greats from the 70s on, most of the matches today are so jazzy and fake, they don't even hold my interest. I remember watching 2 hour shows and was lucky if there was even one really good match worth watching! 75% of it is all advertising for itself.

And it all runs in cycles with the only good stuff now leading up to one of the four annual big PPV events with the lead into Wrestlemania each year being the big one.

Few today really stand with all the great matches and people there used to be, and now they squeeze you to death to actually see and follow any of it. If you never saw the Brittish Bulldogs in a tables & ladders match, you've never seen anything.

That is a rich nation. They paid WWE a lot of money to have pay per views there. Royal Rumble is a prime one.
