Would you? Should you?

What if you had the power to choose which of your genes you passed onto your child? Would you? Should you? What if you knew you carried a gene that could cause disease? What if you could choose what genes your child would carry so (s)he would be fairer, more beautiful, more fit? Should not one who loves their child want them to be as healthy, fit, and beautiful as possible? Would you stop at preventing known disease? Would you choose the genes for a more beautiful, stronger, or 'better' baby? What about bringing in genes that neither parent carries- 'known goods', to borrow some familiar nomenclature, to give the child ever advantage?
