Why is this so "disheartening"? Muslims (regardless of sect) have no respect for women and have NEVER had any respect for women. It's deep within their religion.

It's not just Saudis - it's MUSLIM.

They have been an "ally" (and I use that term loosely) for 100 years. The US made them billionaires. But if you believe that they would "go to war" with the US - you're nuts.

However, let those oil fields be attacked - and they will scream like pigs for our "help" - which means OUR young men and women to die protecting.

Well, quite frankly, in Christian religions, in the Old Testament, women were required to have a "covering" and we're not allowed to worship with men. Jesus Christ (the New Testament) instructed us to "throw off those things of old" and accept a "new" way.

Up until that point - women were treated pretty much the same.
