Women and gun safety around children...

this article looks at owning a gun when you have children...the writer is a woman and looks at the things that should be done when you have decided to own and possibly carry a gun to defend your family......

Since anti gunners do their best to keep gun safety education away from children......since injured and dead children are their best tool to push their anti gun views.....someone needs to help teach gun safety to new gun owners and to children, and to the general, non gun owning public.

Guns & Your Children

If you choose to keep a gun in your home, the safety of your children and the children that visit your home is your responsibility and only yours. Guns and your children is a subject you cannot avoid or postpone. If dealing with the issues of guns and children is not one you can take seriously and take the steps necessary to protect them, than do not have a gun in your home. That means the safe storage and use of guns and the safety of your children must be your top priority.

Most states impose some form of legal duty on adults to take reasonable steps to deny access by children to dangerous substances or instruments and guns. As the adult, it is your responsibility to understand and follow all laws regarding gun purchase, ownership, storage, transport, etc. Contact your state police and/or local police for information regarding such laws.

Honestly, it seems if you make a big deal of them the kids want them more. We are a shooting family. If the kids ask, we take time to show them. Kids I have hunted with have actually handled their weapons in a safer manner then the adults who brought them.

The left, anti gun people want kids to be afraid of guns and to be dangerous around guns....they don't want even more people who are will not support their anti gun agenda.

The Germand gave up their guns in the 1920s.....the socialists were able to beat and intimidate all opposition because the normal people...could not stand up to them...

Uh, no guy. The Germans had very weak gun control and the Nazis made them weaker, still.

What happened was that the Normal People happily supported the Nazis, turned in their Jewish neighbors and applauded when July 20 conspirators were shot.

Guns don't stop dictatorships.

No moron...the socialists disarmed everyone but their nazi brothers...why is that so hard for you morons to understand...read Gun Control in the Third Reich...learn about it so you aren't talking out of your ass all the time....

The normal people could not resist because they had no guns......the socialists beat and murdered anyone in their way and the police did nothing to stop them...when all of your neighbors are beaten or mirdered, and the government is not helping you you shut up and put your head down...that is how the socialists gained power...just like they always do.

Guns are the only thing that stops dictatorships........every single time.....that is why people like you want guns confiscated...

The UK is NOT a gun free society

No, but they do restrict guns to people who ACTUALLY SHOULD HAVE THEM.

What a concept.

BRitains gun crime rate didn't change after they confiscated guns...now only the criminals and cops have guns...and the criminals have as many guns as they did before...in fact, they have more guns...and fully automatic guns.......and their violent crime rate went up 27% last year and their gun crime went up 4%.

And our crime rate....as more Americans have bought, own and actually carry more guns for self defense.....went down....our gun mirder rate...went down.....

Nothing you believe about gun ownership is true or factual......

And regulating guns...they are already highly regulated...and criminals still get them even with mandatory federal background checks....

And yes...you don't care about freedom....you want a police state.....we get that..Lyon hate people and think they ne d to be controlled.....good for you.
The thing is they didn't ban guns.

Citizens can still get gun permits. It's a long process but people can and still own guns in the UK

Hunting shotguns.........the criminals are using fully automatic weapons.....Skorpion machine pistols and AKs.......you cannot get a gun for self defense in Britain......it is not a legally recognized reason to own a gun........and that did not lower their gun crime rate..so nuts like joe are wrong...and they are wrong on every aspect of the gun debate...every one...
I don't disagree

And anyone who does get a permit can have it revoked at any time for almost any reason

And our crime rate....as more Americans have bought, own and actually carry more guns for self defense.....went down....our gun mirder rate...went down.....

Our crime rates are horrible compared to any other industrialized nation.

No matter how much manure you spread around.
Violent Crime: The US and Abroad - Criminal Justice Degree Hub

It's interesting to note that 5 American cities are on the list of the 50 most deadly cities in the world. Only an idiot would think that these problem cities do not skew our numbers especially in murder rates.

In the UK you have a greater than 1 in 100 chance of being the victim of a violent crime. That is more than 4 times higher than your chance in the US. So it seems the UK with its gun laws isn't really a safer place to be and you're told that you can't carry a gun for self defense

EXACTLY- people who've proven themselves responsible and show a legitimate need.

I'd have no problem if we did that in this country, really. Oh, on a personal level, I'd like to ban guns just to fuck with you gun nuts who inflicted Bush and Reagan on us and destroyed the Middle Class.

But one where you have to show a cause to have a gun and prove you aren't a nut... like the UK or Germany have.. yeah, I'm good with that.

Wait for it...

"BUT THE FOUNDING SLAVE RAPISTS SAID WE COULD HAVE GUNS...WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Self defense IS a legitimate need

Especially in the UK where you are more than 4 times more likely to be the victim of a violent crime than in the US

They did nothing of the sort. the Nazis actually widened gun ownership. It's why there was so much guerrilla activity in Germany after VE day until Ike decided to finally confiscate all the guns.

Gun ownership doesn't stop dictatorships.

IN the 1920s twit, they restricted gun ownership...when the nazis came to power they widened ownership....to members of the nazi party...are you always this dim? No...there was so much activity because they had military weapons and the Germans armed teenagers to fight the occupation.

Gun ownership is the only way to stop a dictatorship and it is a lot easier to keep a dictatorship from happening in the first place if normal people are as heavily armed as the military.......

Only unarmed people are victims of mass murder, genocide and ethnic cleansing.....

Well, if that were true...

But, um. no. The UK only had 600 Murders compared to our 16,000.

Their criminals are 2 x as violent as American criminals they just don't cross the line into actual murder to get their way...but with the new immigrants, from war torn 3rd world countries that is now changing ...violent crime in Britain was up 27% last year and gun crime.....up 4% in a country where that should not be possible since normal gun owners were disarmed in 97.....of course, the criminals still have their guns....

Our crime rates are bad because of our criminals...not because of guns...our non gun violent crime rate is higher than many of these countries entire crime rate.......

No, our crime rate is bad because we have too much access to guns.

do we have other problems, like racism, income inequality, etc., that contribute to the crime problem? Yup.

But the fact that any crazy person can walk into a gun store and buy a machine gun with a 100 round clip is really a problem.

Joe...you are just wrong..on every level.........you have a fixation on guns and it blinds you to the truth and reality......the numbers show, the research shows, the other countries have low violent crime rate...except for Britain...they had low levels of violence in general...and low levels of murder and it has nothing to do with guns......

The criminals in all of these countries get guns.......all they want...they just do not commit murder...they beat and rape and rob...but they murder less often.....our criminal culture in our inner cities are more prone to commit murder... And they are not normal people....they have long histories of violence and crime....

Japan has a low crime rate for all crime....their culture restrains criminal behavior.......

"you have a fixation on guns "
My sides hurt!!!!!!!!

Murder is not the only type of violent crime

Even you know that

No, but it's the only one you can quantify accurately.

Assault and rape, the problem is there are matters of degree and how often they are reported and the culture about reporting them.

Social media post says U.K. has far higher violent crime rate than U.S. does

As Bier put it, "The FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports defines a ‘violent crime’ as one of four specific offenses: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault." By contrast, "the British definition includes all ‘crimes against the person,’ including simple assaults, all robberies, and all ‘sexual offenses,’ as opposed to the FBI, which only counts aggravated assaults and ‘forcible rapes.’ "

Another problem is that aggravated assaults, rapes and robberies are victim-reported crimes, so whether the crime gets reported varies widely, depending on such factors as the victim’s trust in the police. This difference shows up in comparisons of FBI crime data, which consists of crimes reported to police, and the far higher rates of crime victimization found in a survey of Americans by the Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics. The survey counts all crimes that respondents say they have experienced, not just those they reported to police.

So, yeah, when you aren't counting the less serious crimes and you have huge segments of the population that doesn't trust law enforcement, you can giggle the numbers all day.

But when you get to an apples to apples comparison, like Murder, not so much.

So if someone doesn't get killed it doesn't count right?

Never mind serious injury permanent disfigurement or even damage to the psyche
