With All Eyes On The Presidential Race, Nobody Is Talking About The Troubling Republican Victories Elsewhere
The GOP wins outside the presidential race should not be so surprising to the Democrats expecting large gains in both chambers of Congress and around the country.
In 2016 and throughout his first term, the impeached president trump spoke to directly to the racial and religious hatreds and prejudices towards ambitious women and the LGBT community of Republican voters. However, his former devoted fanatics who rejected him in favor of Biden, simply could no longer tolerate the impeached president trump buddying up with dictators Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un. Additionally, the Republican voters who abandoned the impeached president trump to vote for Biden also considered his Senate voting record, and remembered his decades of cooperation with congressional Republicans on Defense, tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy, and Biden’s willingness to vote with the GOP to cut funding for education and social programs. Finally, the impeached president trump’s alienation of long-held alliances in Europe were not compatible with Republican voters who know those alliances are often necessary for U.S. war ambitions in various areas around the world, particularly, the Middle East.
So, while the impeached president trump still held much appeal for the voters who jumped ship for Biden, the cheeto-in-chief was just too reckless on too many issues dear to the hearts of die-hard Republican voters. However, it remained an ingrained duty for these voters to support all other Republican candidates on their ballots.
