I DO think if the verdict is not-guilty there will be a violent reaction, followed by a violent reaction to that violence.

I’ve criticized Trump for not being proactive and acting faster to try and stop those people, but there is no evidence that Trump intended for those people to do what they did that day. Sure, Trump spoke in rhetoric, as ALL politicians do, and Trump probably still believed that the election was stolen, I don’t know, but it would have been a very pointless thing to “send his troops” to the capitol that day because, aside from Trump, every other advisor that surrounds him would have had to known that doing something like that would have never worked. They would have know that there was no way a few hundred people, a handful armed with sticks, were going to literally size the capitol, install Trump as president, and the be able to hold the capitol for an indefinite time while Trump stayed in as president. The idea is is ridiculous on its face. Did they think that people would have said “well gee, I guess trump is president now, so I suppose there is nothing we can do about it, we have to let him be president”. Of course not, they would have called in the national guard and forced those people out of that building and dragged Trump out of the white house
