Speculation is spreading that he may not officially veto the stimulus package, opting instead to simply not sign it. With Congress adjourning no later than 11:59 am on January 3rd, that means Congress has until today at noon to get the bill on the President’s desk to prevent a Pocket Veto.

That is the direct payment and I agree...its awlful. You're overlooking the unemployment benefits in the bill though. Its $300 dollars of federal aid per week until April 5:

"Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) originally providing an additional 13 weeks of UI benefits will also be extended for 11 weeks (for a combined maximum of 50 weeks) and will expire on March 14, 2021. Individuals receiving benefits beyond the standard 26-week period as of March 14th will continue receiving them through April 5th if they have not reached their maximum number of benefit weeks."

So its about $3,600 for unemployed people.

This on top of the loans to small businesses and other aid.

The individual payments are atrocious however.

You guys just don’t seem to understand that the COVID stimulus was put into an omnibus appropriations bill. All that stuff you’re referring to as pork is just regular appropriations that we spend every year. It wasn’t put in there as part of the stimulus. It was already there.
