You mean like in 2008 when they made $85 Million in profit?

I don't think you know what the word non-profit means. Let me see if I can help.

Nonprofit organization - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

nonprofit organization (abbreviated as NPO, also known as a not-for-profit organization[1]) is an organization that does not distribute its surplus funds to owners or shareholders, but instead uses them to help pursue its goals.[2]

And what did PP do for example?

Planned Parenthood - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the 2007–08 Annual Report, clinic income totalled $374.7 million and miscellaneous operating revenues $68.9 million.[33] Approximately two-thirds of the revenue is put towards the provision of health services, while non-medical services such as sex education and public policy work make up another 16%; management expenses, fundraising, and international family planning programs account for most of the rest.

Oh, I forgot about those "mangement expenses". Glad you covered that, now we're "non-profit" again. All is good. :eusa_whistle:

You still can't answer why the Federal government should be funding this non-government agency when it's $14 trillon in debt. :eusa_whistle:

Planned Parenthood should be a privately funded organization. I don't see what all this arguing is about. They're no different than ACORN. Taxpayers should not be forced to fund either one. There are plenty of wealthy Leftists in this country who could fund Planned Parenthood. Between all the Hollywood Liberals and George Soros,i'm sure their donations could keep Planned Parenthood afloat. It's time to get the Taxpayers out of funding biased political organizations. Planned Parenthood should be left to sink or swim with private funding. It really is that simple.

Weren't they just recently caught on tape sex trafficing with minors? The gov. has no business funding sex trafficking either. That reason enough alone.

If the Dems had passed a proper budget when they were supposed to, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Just sayin'.

You know this will go right over his head.

It's still over your head that PP isn't a government agency and there is no reason at all we should even consider funding this organization with tax dollars when we are trillions of dollars in debt.

Why do that?... Why not wait and Politicize it?...

And they provide absolutely no revenue. But, shush. Baby steps, here. We might confuse the kids.

Boy, you are dense. Indeed, that military cut is many multiples of PP's budget.

Let me ask you this (but I doubt you will see it because it's wrought with common sense): Let's say I'm currently involved in a legal battle that has one of two outcomes - one detrimental to my reputation and I survive on my reputation and one continuing to keep my reputation as it is and I can continue with my current career path. The legal fees are a major portion of my monthly budget. In addition to that, I was just served with motion for yet another suit against me. Now, the legal fees also support those working at the law firm and several thousands of others in support roles to that firm and all those workers end up being my customers (ie. provide me revenue). Also part of my monthly budget is a weekly mani-pedi - a small budget item, but I have plenty of those small budget items that end up adding up to some significance. And, the mani-pedi shop I use has about twenty employees who also are customers of mine. I am their major customer, too.

Hmmmmm...what do I cut?

Nice false analogy. But hey, let's just keep our bloated defense budget the way it is! Again, you want to say "it's the money, stupid" but you don't want to cut the defense budget but take a knife to PP. That doesn't sound like "it's the money, stupid." That sounds an awful lot like "it's my ideology, stupid."

This Billy Joel song seems to sum up the overall feeling on the right towards the defense budget.

I understand just fine that PP isn't a government agency. However, that doesn't change the fact that you have no idea what the definition of a non-profit organization is. I would like to see whether you're willing to apply your philosophy across the board.

For example, here:

OH yay!! Let's desubsidize oil companies, health insurers (Medicare ADVANTAGE plans), pharmaceutical companies, agriculture!! I wonder when THOSE debates will start in earnest?

Yeah, I knew it would confuse you.

No surprise.

No, I do NOT want to cut the defense budget because your messiah just decided to strain it even more. And no, I do not want to cut the defense budget because we actually receive much revenue from it, which is sort of a good thing whenever we are broke. And, yes, I do want to cut PP and other non-revenue generating expenses.

Yup, that's way too confusing to you. Like I said, it's all about money, stupid.

I'm all for desubsidizing oil and agriculture. :eusa_shhh:

Can you Address this Point?...

:)

I already have throughout the thread. The Democrats came up with $33 billion in cuts when the GOP came up with $30 billion two months ago. Senate Democrats also offered up $10 billion in defense cuts that was immediately rejected by the Republicans. The Democrats have more than fulfilled their end of the bargain. If the Republicans want to debate the merits of defunding PP, it should be done so separately with a single bill.
