Get rid of the fraud, then take the extra $ found and put them back into the Medicaid payments. No need to reduce any payments.

Elon is making a lot of noise nibbling at the edges, and there's no doubt we need to audit and make government more efficient.

But at some point, if he's going to make a serious dent, and if tax cuts are coming, he'll have to go after the big things -- Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security. Then we'll see how the country reacts.

He goes after the Big Three and GOP is out of office for a generation.

If you look at the graph below about $100b of Welfare cost was added in the last two years. How much of that was fraud?
Should the states manage Welfare along with their unemployment and job training programs?

I'd like to see DOGE get Welfare costs below $300b a year, or better yet, hand it off to the States with block grants for job training.
I'd also put back the 2-year lifetime limit on Welfare.
They should start with corporate welfare.

Those 3 programs don't need to be cut.

We'll see. Supposedly the current GQP budget plans for big cuts to Medicaid and some cuts to Medicare.

Tough to imagine, but nothing would surprise me at this point.

I dont think that will happen when there's zero justification for making those cuts.

Believe it or not, we finally agree on something!!

I don't care is states give subsidies to get factories, I oppose Federal subsidies unless its for strategic defense purposes like chip factories, or advanced weapon development.

That is silly.
Obviously there has never been any federal welfare except for ADC and disability.
And the only "rise" we see was to prevent totally economic collapse from the mandated covid closures.

It clearly was flat until 2019, and dipped around 2022.

Totally wrong.
No one over 150 is getting social security.

What In The World? Offering No Proof, Elon Musk Claims 150-Year-Old People Are Receiving Social Security Checks

Story by Sharelle Burt

During a press conference in the Oval Office, tech billionaire Elon Musk made bizarre claims about Social Security, including that 150-year-olds are receiving benefits.

Standing beside President Donald Trump and sporting a black "Make America Great Again" hat on Feb. 11, Musk gave reporters insight on why his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is looking into Social Security, stating there are persons well past livable ages receiving the benefits.

"There‘s crazy things, like the cross-examination of social security. We've got people who are 150 years old. Now, do you know anyone that's 150?" Musk said. "They should be on the Guinness Book of World Records. So you know, that's a case where I think they are probably dead. That's my guess, so they should be very famous. It's one of the two."

Since being sworn in as the 47th President, Trump has made brazen, concerning efforts to downsize federal departments. He has given Musk, a citizen, access to payment and personnel records. Members of Congress have expressed significant security and privacy concerns. Trump told reporters that the efforts are part of a plan to cut $1 trillion from the federal budget, which reached $6.75 trillion in the most recent fiscal year.

Before the press conference, Musk took to X to call out fraud claims in federal entitlements such as Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, Disability and Social Security.

The reality is that the statistics were started in 1875, so when you do not enter a year of birth into the SS database, it will default to say you were born in 1875.
That is because like all databases, it stores an offset and not an absolute year.

This is one of the dumbest thing Elon has ever said.

MSN is not exactly a reliable source concerning Government efficiency....they got paid too. They definitely have an axe to grind.

1% of welfare expenses are fraud. And it’s peanuts.

The big fraud is defense contractors. $800 toilets. $500 hammers. 20% of the Budget.

Republicans always go after poor people. Guys like Trump steal millions and never get arrested. But welfare fraud of $1000. LOCK THEM UP!!!
Every single cent going to an illegal and their anchor babies is fraud…it’s all got to end

[SOME COMPUTER DATE TRIVIA]

Microsoft Office and PC's were designed to store dates as serial numbers. So day Number 1 was 01/01/1900. As numbers increased, dates increased so Number 2 was 01/02/1900. Negative number were dates prior to 01/01/1900.

Microsoft Office for Mac's in the old days used a 1904 date system so that Number 1 was 01/01/1904. If you moved Excel files between Mac's and WIndows machines the dates would be off by a year and a day.

If you didn't know about it, it could really screw your data.

They fixed it a long time ago, but being in a mixed Mac/PC environment it was a real pain in the ass.
