The Republican party screwed Ron Paul and the Democrats screwed Bernie Sanders.

Bernie would have been a sincere Trump. He really does want to drain the swamp.

Bernie would drain the entire country. I will admit he may have good intentions, he just doesn't have a clue. You know what they say about a road paved with good intentions.

We already have a progressive tax system right? But it's not as progressive as it once was. I say all the time don't just roll back the Bush tax breaks, roll back Reagans tax breaks too. That money used to pay for infrastructure.

So says the person who won't likely be affected. It is really easy to spend other people's money, isn't it?

Remember the uproar from "rich" Democrats when Trump capped the SALT deduction at 10k? They are all for high taxes to pay as long as they aren't the ones footing the bill.

The objection was being forced to pay federal taxes on money you never saw and went for state and local taxes.

What are you talking about? The objection was that they could no longer write off the local 50k in property taxes on their federal returns. They must now pay their effective tax rate on the additional 40k that they can't deduct. For top payers, using the average nominal rate, that would be around $10k/yr more in federal income taxes.

You are taxing money that already went to pay taxes

Yeah, local tax, not federal. However you slice it, that means that writing off state property taxes is taking money from federal taxes by giving a deduction. Even more so in high tax states.
