Who will win this one? Conservatives are saying that David Hearn damaged the reflecting poor .

Liberals are saying that Donald Trump is just so embarrassed that his reflecting pool is crumbling, that he accused an innocent man, to save face:

I certainly hope he is not convicted. As one commentator said, it will just be another example of Pierro's ineptness.

And in the end, this whole reflecting pool might represent the Trump's presidency. I mean I have one overwhelming piece of advice for parents, and anyone else for that matter, choose your battles carefully. Trump chose this battle, and honestly it should have been an easy fix. They knew the problem going in and yet did nothing to correct it. It was literally, an attempt to place lipstick on a pig. Why choose this battle?

It will never even get to a trial.

I'm saying put a pin in that thought.

An enterprising legal defense fund (i.e. anti-Trump PAC) could finance a court case.

It's way better to actually let this go to trial (where the DOJ will lose anyways) but on the road there the defense would have this thing call "discovery". Meaning as part of their defense they:
  • Could show the shoddy workmanship,
  • Get details of the no bid contract,
  • Get discovery corresondence (documents, emails, texts, etc.) on how the no bid contract was awarded initially,
  • Get discovery corresondence (documents, emails, texts, etc.) on how the no bid contract ballooned by a factor of 10 (from $1.4 million to cover $14 million with a 20% profit guarentee)
  • Etc.

Very excellent thinking.

Indeed it would be better to go to trial but there aren't many judges that want their courtroom turned into a dog and pony show.

Like the sandwich thrower it will be quickly dismissed.

Back when American national law enforcement acted with intelligence, independence, professionalism and credibility, it had a very high success rate of throwing lawbreakers in jail. You certainly didn't want to be on their radar.

Today, under this ignorant, vengeful, orange buffoon, arrests and indictments only result in the flip of a coin. Maybe they made it up to please Trump, maybe they didn't. Maybe it's just about one child's revenge, maybe it isn't.

They wanted to destroy our institutions. So far, so good.

The TRUMP Justice system is mostly concerned with making arrests rather than getting convictions.

It is more than showbiz

It is Trumps tool to retaliate against his enemies
Obviously part of this is to also intimidate others from criticizing him or holding him accountable.

An effective tactic in theory, but like everything else, they've implemented it like angry cavemen. So now the whole goddamn country is a joke.

In the past the DOJ was about arresting and prosecuting criminals.

Not anymore, the DOJ is about "investigating", harrassing, making people pay for attorneys, jumping through legal hoops. That is the punishment.

Trump's GOP has a poor track record of getting people convicted with these trumped up political charges.

May 7, 2026

President Donald Trump on Thursday went on an unannounced trip to the Lincoln Memorial to see the Reflecting Pool after he had it coated in a color he calls ā€œAmerican flag blue.ā€

He did more than just see it — the Republican president was driven across the new coating before he got out of his SUV to make a statement and answer questions from reporters who had been taken there to await his arrival before the sun set.

Looks like some vandals damaged the bottom of the pool.
