He declared it but can't prove it. He said there would be pictures, none yet. Then he said they'll show up in court, not likely. What he didn't mention was video. He said someone slashed a 350 foot long cut at night. That place probably has some surveillance cameras and they won't show someone walking through the pool that long.

Now if someone walked through that pool you would think that one of the security forces would have noticed. There's nothing in the news about an investigation into how the security people let this happen because it didnt' happen.
Trump does not have to prove it in court.

He just has to declare it vandalism and his Dept of Interior will let the contractor off the hook for a shoddy job.

Pay another $16 million to fix it

Obviously part of this is to also intimidate others from criticizing him or holding him accountable.

An effective tactic in theory, but like everything else, they've implemented it like angry cavemen. So now the whole goddamn country is a joke.
That was breached with Joe!

IDK. For as long as I can recall it has been illegal to actually enter the reflecting pool's water. Whether or not sticking your hand in it is entering I guess will be up to the judge. BTW that thing has always been nasty nasty nasty. Repainting the lining can't fix the natural funk of it. Obama letting them connect it to the tidal basin to circulate in "fresh water" didn't do it any favors either.

Actually it made the water cheaper. Instead of the city paying to add the water they now get it from the Potomac River which is free.

This year's Independence Day may be worst day in the life of the crazy liberal bigots.
The restored reflecting pool really pisses them off.

Actually, the Olympic dude is probably the least of my concerns with pool suspects. He was just seen reaching in playing with a loosened section of the liner.

Why anyone would reach into a dirty pool to play with loose lining is beyond me, but to be fair, that lining had no business coming loose.

Of more interest to me is the person dumping gasoline into the cistern, slicing the liner for 250 feet, writing 8647 on the bottom, dumping phosphate into the water, and damaging the nearby lawn. Trump should have had cameras and police protecting the area. Now there is a fence around the pool solving that problem.

Most likely, Trump and this Olympic guy will settle out of court.

Normally, the Contractor who did the job would be responsible for fixing it.

But Trump saved his buddy by declaring it vandalism without any evidence.

So the taxpayer will pay another 16 million to fix it

Did anybody look into if driving a presidential motorcade over the unfinished paint job have damaged it. Especially Trump's 20,000 lb (10 ton) limo.

So you believe Heard, whose defense is 'I was just reaching into the waters of the Reflecting Pool to see what it felt like.' He doesn't know what water feels like?

“I saw a piece of this loose end of this blue coating … I reached out and touched the end of that piece that was loose but still attached to the bottom,” Hearn told ABC News. “I was able to reach out and touch the edge of that that was still attached at the bottom and handled it a little bit.”

You should quit making things up

Can he put in for a share of the $1.776 billion?

Why should they investigate the obvious if they can declare Trumps idiotic vandalism claim as the reason for the damage ?

This is what we elected

There are cameras all over the area. Trump can video that 250 ft slice if it is really there.
Trump is free to do a chemical analysis of the pool and show us that there is a foreign substance in the pool,

But it is easier for him to just claim it is true rather than prove it

He was talking about what the pool liner felt like, not the water.

Well, that's not what his defense lawyer said to the Hill.

Who will win this one? Conservatives are saying that David Hearn damaged the reflecting poor .

Liberals are saying that Donald Trump is just so embarrassed that his reflecting pool is crumbling, that he accused an innocent man, to save face:
We'll see. The article seems to only reflect one side of the case. In any event, I don't know how fair the case would be since it would be held in anti-Trump land.

This is why the charges will not stick. For that, they have to present the evidence of the crime. When the defendant asks for discovery of the actual piece of the pool they claim he vandalized, if they can't product it, they will not be able to sustain the charges.

And they can't give an excuse about they couldn't get the actual piece in question. Remember when the Uni-bomber went on trial?

the FBI literally uprooted Theodore Kaczynski's 10-by-12-foot wooden cabin from the Montana wilderness and moved it into a Sacramento, California courtroom during his trial in 1997

Did he vandalize the pool, or not?
