Thankfully, many in our community — including many Christians — have been raising their voices to reject this extreme political movement. As Christian clergy members and scholars in Lancaster County, we want to both add our voices to this chorus, and to spell out why we feel compelled to emphatically reject so-called “Christian nationalism.” Research shows that Christian nationalists represent the views of a distinct minority of Christians, views that most traditional and mainline Christian churches see as too extreme. What so many find objectionable in Christian nationalism is its explicit aim to impose a specific religious ideology upon all Americans and to make U.S. laws conform to far-right Christian theology.

Importantly, freedom of religion includes the right to not have someone else’s religion forced upon us. The Founding Fathers were clear on this; President John Adams, himself a Christian and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, also signed the Treaty of Tripoli, which stated that “the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion.” What Christian nationalists want is to force a single religion — their specific version of Christianity — on everyone else. Their goal is a Christian theocracy."



No matter how much you see these right-wingers claim to be against a fascist theocracy - they are lying....they would love one if it allows them to punish the people they hate....which is what Christian nationalism is all about...problem is, it isn't popular enough for them to openly campaign on it - so it is left up to the fringe politicians to push it instead.....it isn't a new concept..it has been tried time and time again, and it has been defeated, time and time again... it goes away for awhile, rebrands -- and wait for the next fringe politician to try to push it on the masses again....but why are some Conservatives so hell-bent on having a Christian nationalist country?


I mean, even when you start with the so-called father of the Christian Nationalist movement -- the guy who started the original "America First" party, the guy who thought interracial marriage/sex should be banned because it was a plot by the Jews to enslave the white man -- you know, the usual white replacement bullshit that causes mass shooters to do what they do -- this so-called Conservative is the guy whose movement these right-wingers want to continue?? I mean, the rhetoric is still the same...and judging by the Christian Nationalist policy platform of 60 or 70 years ago....it's still aligns with much of the rhetoric Conservatives still push today....If you folks think Christian Nationalism and its history is so popular, just own it and stop trying to weasel it in....
