Why won't Mike Pence invoke the 25th?

Because buttercup, the purpose of the 25th is to remove presidents for medical feebleness or other reasons of incertitude unable to carry out his duties, not because you didn't like something he said. You only have impeachment for that. But then, the Democrats don't care about laws so, who knows?

Don't look to Pence to do your dirty work for you-- -- AOC said it best, that this is all about fixing Trump that he can't ever run again because they are scared shitless of his power, not because of anything he said or did.
"medical feeblene or other reasons of incertitude"........check.

WHERE does 25A say jack shit about "mental feebleness"?

Hm?

Or don't you care about the very law you cite?

Correct - "Unable to perform his duties" is the generalized description. And God knows he ISN'T!

Goober wanted to go all talkietalkie about an Amendment he didn't even bother to read.

Why won't Mike Pence invoke the 25th?

Because it's really only for unconscious or kidnapped presidents. If an ousted prez can reply, he or she will, furiously, and then BOTH houses of Congress have to approve the measure by two-thirds vote.

And you know the Dems don't have that many votes! And can't get them, especially with both Houses of Congress in recess. Couldn't get that many votes even if they were in session.

Here's where this argument fails. First, 25A doesn't specify "unconscious or kidnapped", it simply says "unable to perform his duties". Second, the theoretical vote would not depend on political parties, but on knowing what the news was this past week. And since they were all literally in the room being targeted ---- they do know.

Yeah, and they are angry, too. However, anger fades quickly but political consideration is long-lived and easy to resuscitate. They had to move FAST for either the 25th (really not the business of Congress anyway and Mike Pence knows it's impossible to get the 2/3 of each House of Congress to support it) or for impeachment. They didn't, so neither will happen.

Unless Trump gets frisky --------

I continue to suspect we are seeing them line up a contingency plan, just in case. Then wham, bam, it's all over. I also bet they've told Trump that.

I know the 25th doesn't say kidnapped or unconscious, it could indeed be used against Joe Biden if he's half as bad off mentally as the campaign carry-on said he was. But it's beautifully written to avoid it being used unless the president in question cannot object. Because without that point about the two-thirds of both houses have to vote for it if the prez objects, it would most certainly be used every third day to throw one person after the other into a very fast revolving door out of the White House.

Senile Joe will be the first to be 25th-ed.

After that, mad BJ Harris will be your president. Good luck with that

Cool, can't wait to see the meltdown when "BJ" brings "The Jihad Squad' into her administration!

Very fair point. And while it's discussed, 25A isn't likely or expected at this point. However on the political party question I submit that there exist quite a few Rs who increasingly regret their stance, will be looking over their proverbial shoulder, and may be open to supporting 25A/impeachment just to partially sanitize their own legacy. Some may even jump to the other party to get the stain off.... Lisa Murkowski has already articulated as much.

Care to essplain why y'all keep trying to sell this "senile" shit? Got any evidence for that at all, or is this just another Total Landscaping Snow Job?

Did J'Biden run around with madcap conspiracy theories about elections --- ANY elections --- for which he had no evidence?

Did J'Biden spend months denying that he lost an election?

Did J'Biden contend that the Bronx is a very wonderful place in Germany?
Did he then repeat that? And then repeat it again? And then repeat it again again?

Did J'Biden try to tell us the 18th century continental army took over the airports?

Did J'Biden make up a fake Time Magazine cover with his own mug on the cover?

Did J'Biden try to tell us the word would means the word wouldn't?

Did J'Biden try to change the course of a hurricane with a friggin' Sharpie?

Did J"Biden try to sell bullshit about "thousands and thousands of people on rooftops"?

Did J'Biden then flail about mocking the congenital disability of a reporter who wouldn't join him in that lie?

Did J'Biden declare that sound causes cancer?

Did J'Biden paint his own face orange?

Name one duty Trump is not able to carry out.

Apparently they haven't spoken since the riot and Donald didn't even bother to call him to see if he was okay after his insurrectionists changed "HANG MIKE PENCE!!/ WHERE'S MIKE PENCE??" and other pleasantries. Veep got out of there due to pure luck and some quick thinking.

Four long years of sickening loyal puppy dog-like behavior on MP's part and he gets this for performing his constitutional DUTY? Goes to show, loyalty is a one way street with King Rump. He expects it from everyone but NEVER returns it.

  • President Donald Trump has long benefited from the loyalty of Vice President Mike Pence.
  • But Trump may have pushed Pence too far this week by repeatedly demanding that Pence try to block the certification of Joe Biden's presidential win.
  • That, combined with Trump's move to rile up his supporters before they breached the US Capitol, seems to have exposed cracks within their partnership.
  • Pence is said to be angry with Trump but has yet to agree with invoking the 25th Amendment, a possible but perhaps unlikely way to remove Trump from power.

Sen. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma told the Tulsa World that he'd never seen the vice president so angry. "I had a long conversation with him," Inhofe said. "He said, 'After all the things I've done for him.'"

Not too late Michael - Do it NOW!!

It’s all about the base. I don’t expect Pence to say or do anything against Trump. He’s gotta preserve as much of that base support as he can. I bet inside he is raging to stick it to Donny though. Not in the way he wanted to a few years ago

:hhello:

"the office of President of the United States of America".

You only asked for one so we don't have to bring in....

"tell the truth about literally anything" or "know where the fuck the Bronx is" or "take responsibility for anything" or "ever admit he fucked up" or even "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution", because that's three things.
