You are quite possibly correct in this assessment.

But there may be other reasons as well.

He is getting old and sensing his mortality and knows that this present term is his "last shot" at getting things done.

Despite all the bluster about finding ways to obtain a third term he is beginning to show his age and will be very tired by 2028.

His best bet now is to groom a handful of The Faithful as successors and to actively and publicly praise and promote them.

That would build a Trump Governing Bloc that would carry on his policies while letting him ease-out as Chair Emeritus.

He still has a few good years "in him" but he needs to simultaneously "get stuff done" while grooming the Next Generation.

Of course, grooming the Next Generation PROPERLY will require sharing the Spotlight and historically he does not do that well.

Perhaps Old Age will mellow him a bit with respect to Teamwork at his own level. Or not.

Given how bat-shit crazy the dems are acting I'm not worried about it but if I was Trump and the mid-terms went badly for him, I'd simply resign the day the dems are gaveled in and let Vance take charge.

It would be worth it just to see the dems scramble about looking for something to impeach Vance on.

Trump is almost 80. At best he's got 10 more years of enjoyable life ahead of him.

He is beholden to no one. He is above bribery, he can't be threatened or coerced and he is very, very smart with the smartes people in the world advising him.

This administration is very, very, VERY different from his first one when everybody was afraid of him, nobody wanted to be associated with him, when the DISGUSTING FILTH was running roughshod over American Politics and could ruin a person with mere innuendo. Notice how active he has his administration. This is the type you want to work for if you enjoy being active. JD Vance and Rubio seem more natural and free speaking, they need to be busy and working hard for America, capitalism and liberty, dismissing those nations who betray these ideals.

Yes, Trump is succeeding for America but as America succeeds so shall their ideals of liberty, accountable and transparent government. Trump should remind the media "you need to demand the transparency I am providing to every government". In fact, if he can make it law he should to some degree, Answer to the voters, you shouldnt be allowed to hide in a bunker.
