The High Court is often split because one justice has to recuse himself or herself so it won't matter as much as you think it does.

I see from reading the blip from your link that the logic is that we have no government if there is an even vote on a dire issue...

Simple solution: impeach either Ginsburg or Kagan for presiding over gay weddings as de facto federal entities while the question of "should the fed mandate gay marriage?". They were legally-required to have recused themselves from the Obergefell hearing. The citation for that mandate is Caperton vs A.T. Massey Coal 2009. In that case (where Ginsburg herself affirmed), the Court found that if a reasonable person could deduce that a judge might have bias, that judge is required to recuse themselves from a case. Ginsburg was virtually gushing in favor of gay marriage and indeed flaunted presiding over them; and thus, "announcing" her vote before the case even came to their Court.

Which is forbidden. Impeach Ginsburg and the number will be 7 until TWO Justices can be nominated by the next president...

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that that particular case with those two Justices flaunting their bias before, during and after the Hearing before the Opinion is one of the main reasons the Trumpsters reject both the democrats and the republicans.
