Why the death penalty? 67 year old murderer, released on parole, murders a woman with a knife.

Our failed society is all due to liberalism. They turned our prisons into playgrounds, took God out of our schools and society, promoted and praised single-parent families and replaced the father with a welfare check and food stamps. Then when these Godless people murder somebody, they come out of prison and have the Democrat party re-instituting their voting rights.

Our prisons are overflowing. Gee, I wonder why? Three square meals a day, a field outside to play football and baseball, a little quiet room in case you want your wife or girlfriend to stop over to start a family, a pool room, the ability to purchase snacks if your friends or family donate money to your account, and when you need a few days of vacation, level a lawsuit against the state because you were served grape jello instead of cherry. They will drive you out of there for a few days in court for a change of scenery.

Want to stop the overflow of prisons, then turn our prisons into the prison from the classic movie Cool Hand Luke. Nobody would want to go there.
Even though you get into some obvious extremes, your feelings are most likely consistent with the feeling of a large number of Americans.

I would be interested in hearing you expand on your proclaiming that liberalism is to blame.

Defining liberalism as it pertains to this discussion?

Norway's system could be termed as socialism or perhaps 'socially responsible' government reform but it could maybe be excluded from fitting the term, 'liberalism'.

More to your point Ray, what reform is needed to fix America's failure? More incarceration and/or more death penalties?

Giving police freedom to shoot down black men on sight?

My interest is in observing at this point, and not to criticize any possible solution.

It all comes down to the hardness of man's heart. We are a fallen race because of sin. Stand by because I will post a story of a ruthless felon who DID come to the Cross and is redeemed to this day.

One out of how many thousands that did not?
The story I posted was about one of the most notorious serial killers in US history.

Maybe, but the truth of the matter is we need to keep working to make our deterrents tougher to protect innocent people. Years ago people thought it was insane to allow anybody but a police officer to carry a gun out in public. As more and more states adopted CCW laws and reversed laws that favored the criminal and criminalized the victim, we seen a trend change in violent crime. Since the early 90s, violent crime went on a decline until Ferguson and now again with Floyd.

Going to prison for a few months for stealing a purse is worthy of committing the crime, but the idea you could end up six feet under because that woman with the purse is armed, not so much. Depending on who's statistics you use, Americans use their firearms for self-defense or stop crime between 1 million to 4 million times a year. The FBI puts it at 1.1 million times.

Deterrents work--pandering is a failure.

Liberalism as in the Democrat party and all their immoral policies, some of which I already listed. You can't compare our country to any other because those other countries are not nearly diversified as ours are, and we have some groups of people much more prone to violence and crime than others. Apples and oranges.

Where I live is just across Lake Erie from you, this was one of the greatest suburbs to live in. Vibrant, increasing housing values, thriving stores, number one rated school system, a safe community where you could walk the streets anytime day or night. I used to keep my side door open and never had to worry. Blacks moved in and everything changed. Stores closed down, housing values dropped dramatically, we went from one murder every 15 years if that to 3 or 4 a year. Shootings of some kind several times a week. Teachers getting attacked on a monthly basis, police so busy they can't even do traffic control any longer. Our jails are usually full. Liberalism and their diversity concept at it's finest.

Do they have this kind of problem in Norway?

When I drove school bus, I saw firsthand kids with no sense if discipline nor respect.

This is why I support the death penalty.......you can never trust the government, in particular, the democrat party, to keep violent monsters locked up....and when they are released, more innocents suffer and die...

Only weeks after his parole conditions were lifted by the state of California and he was released to society, a 67-year-old convicted murderer in Los Angeles who killed a woman in 1982 was charged with the stabbing murder of another woman.

According to court documents, Eddie Allen Harris murdered a woman in South Los Angeles on March 23.

“According to LAPD, officers responded to E. 59th Place & South Main Street in south Los Angeles at around 5:30 a.m., where they found a deceased Black woman in an alley with lacerations across her body,” FOX 11 reported. Citing court documents, FOX 11 noted that in 1982, “Harris was convicted of murdering another woman in Los Angeles County.” Harris “raped and stabbed a woman to death before leaving her body in an alley.”

Police arrested Harris on April 8.

The state granted Harris parole in 2018 after over 30 years in prison. His parole conditions were terminated this year.

He should have sentenced to life imprisonment with no parole. No need for barbarianism.

That sentence means nothing......any democrat down the road will just allow them out.....

because you are so fucking tough.....what would you do?....bleed all over me?...

It’s got nothing to do with toughness. I’m not particularly tough and have never claimed to be. What I am is very aware of my security and safety, and my home/property is set up thusly.

I was just wondering if youwere willing to carry through on your suggestion that I should be removed from Society.

a little paranoid are we?....

Killers who kill because they like it should be executed immediately after trial. They can't be rehabilitated or treated. Give them life without possibility of parole and they spend their waking moments either reliving their killings or fantasizing about new killings. Let them out and they will immediately find new victims. No need to waste time.

I learned very early in life that people were mean, nasty, cruel sons of bitches who didn’t like me because of what I look like and (as I got a little older) what I believe.

For many years I tried to be nice to these people and ignore their hostility. Eventually I learned it wasn’t worth the effort and started not liking them back. As a result I figured out that not interacting with Society was easier than constantly having to restrain my mouth and my violent tendencies.

it’s better for us all this way.

This is what I tell the anti-death penalty people who tell me the death penalty is not a deterrent, anjd it costs more to kill murderers than it does to house them. Well no shit, why do they think that is?

In my state it takes anywhere from 18 to 23 years to execute a prisoner after he's been sentenced. Then during that time, we taxpayers have to support him. Add the few decades of appeals legal fees, of course it costs more to kill them.

As far as I'm concerned, if we expedited death penalty cases and executed them much faster, not only would it be cheaper, but it actually would act as a deterrent to other potential murderers. All appeals need to be exhausted within six months. After that, to the gurney you go.

Death penalty needs to be carried out for all convicted murderers.

Makes absolutely no sense to keep them alive in prison with 3 square meals, workout rooms, internet and phone access with our tax dollars, with the possibility of them escaping or being released - while their victims are dead and their family members suffer.

What if they're innocent?

Death penalty needs to be carried out for all convicted murderers. Twelve of their peers said they weren't.

And they're always right.
