Why are conservative commentators like Mark Levin, Dennis Prager and Michael Medved so opposed to Donald Trump that they are tacitly supporting Hillary Clinton? Why is the normally incisive Charles Krauthammer unable to rationally discuss any aspect of Trump's candidacy? Is it because they genuinely think he is a left-wing stalking horse who will turn the U.S. into Sweden? Absolutely not.
The real reason is much more elemental: At a very basic level, Trump's bombastic style and political rhetoric remind them of Hitler's rise to power in Germany and the Holocaust that ensued. This emotional reaction to Trump's candidacy is understandable, but should not be taken as some well-reasoned evaluation of his fitness to be President. (In reality, he is the antithesis of one-party political control.) As such, their diatribes against Trump should be considered within that context. Admitting a conflict of interest would be helpful, but probably too much to ask of them.
