Indeed, my O/P was never meant to "defend" democrats who are corporate whores. However, whereas these latter are hypocritical SOBs who take advantage of the system's duplicity, many right wingers oppose "socialism" just because of their own ignorance to what it means or could mean.

The SECOND statement was made to point out the selfishness of many right wingers who view capitalism as their new "religion"...one that dictates that if one is poor it must be because that individual is LAZY and UNDESERVING.....(Max Weber pointed this out in his Spirit of Capitalism.)
