"Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan is among the lawmakers who texted with Mark Meadows, chief of staff to former President Donald Trump. Jordan forwarded a text message to Meadows, regarding a legal theory that then-Vice President Mike Pence could prevent the certification of Electoral College votes from the 2020 election, according to CNN. The message Jordan forwarded originally came from former Pentagon Inspector General Joseph Schmitz, according to reports from CNN, Politico and NBC. Jordan spokesman Russell Dye confirmed the text's authenticity to CNN.
"A portion of the text message reads: “On January 6, 2021, Vice President Mike Pence, as President of the Senate, should call out all the electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all -- 'No legislative act,’ wrote Alexander Hamilton in Federalist No. 78, ‘contrary to the Constitution, can be valid."
Bam, that is the ball game.....Alexander Hamilton said it himself...no legislative act that is unconstitutional can be valid..therefore, all of those electoral votes are henceforth, invalid....even tho Hamilton was talking about federal courts having the power to determine what laws or valid or not; not that the VP alone should be able to have that power with regards to election results...but still...it sounds good to quote the Federalist papers and stuff...
But it does bring up the question.....In the spirit of Dick Cheney and the way he grew the powers of the executive branch (especially the VP powers) -- why can't the Vice President be able to unilaterally throw out election results that he feels are invalid due to unconstitutional election laws and strong feelings and suspicions of widespread voter fraud?? Why are Dems and the lame-stream media acting like what the Trump admin and others in the GOP were pushing Pence to do was something bad?? Knowing the respect for fairness and upholding the Constitution that Conservatives have; I am sure they would be just as passionate about this belief if the current VP decides to do that herself in 2024...she can point to the report that over 400 cases of voter fraud was discovered in 2020..with potentially millions of fraudulent votes to come in 2024 -- wouldn't she have grounds to declare all of the electoral votes invalid??
