Every single day, I wish I understood the psychology of this more.

It's obviously about the power of ideology, but I don't think this is one specific strain of ideology. There are the core, focused, neofascist perpetrators, people like Miller and Vance, and then there are the rank & file in the streets who just don't know any better because their information is so finite and concentrated (i.e., the "alternate universe").

What I can't get to, is the justifications on which the rank & file exist. Especially those who claim to be Christians. You can't ask, because you get the regular canned answers and rote personal attacks. I guess I'm trying to figure out if they consciously understand what they're enabling, at some level. They have found a way to internally justify this.

I may never know.
