I am a registered independent with conservative views. I didn't vote this year.
The rhetoric coming from both sides was ridiculous. I don't know if you've noticed, but American presidential elections run in cycles. First, the Republicans take the White House, everybody bitches and complains about how the economy is so bad, so the Democrats seize their chance and promise that they are the saviors of the country who will fix everything. The Democrats get elected but guess what? The bitching continues. Next election, people decide that the Democrats are to blame for the shitty economy, so they vote Republican. Then the Republicans take over...and STILL, people keep bitching. Has it ever occurred to anyone that no political party is going to give you anything you ask for, or solve the world's problems? Politicians run for president because they want POLITICAL POWER. The Republicans promise a strong economy, the Democrats promise free shit for everybody, and we get neither. Surprised? I'm not.
The racial overtones of Election 2008 pissed me off the most. Now that Obama won the White House, a large majority of the African American community is strutting around, happy that they'll no longer be forced to give up their seats on the bus. I say, when it comes to discussing serious issues, fuck race..."Racial" anything is the most outdated, ridiculous, unnecessary, partisan crock of shit that could ever be brought to the table. Anytime I hear this shit about how somebody feels Obama could understand their plight best because of skin color, I always say, "The 1960s called...they want their social issues back." I mean, seriously. Obama is a politician just like the rest of them, meaning he's in it for the money. Voting for him just because he's black is retarded. Entirely unsurprising, but still retarded.
Having said that, I didn't like McCain either. So I just stayed home from the polls.
