Initial reports from the FBI on crime in 2019? Violent crime was down 3.1 percent.....while over 18.6 million Americans can now carry guns for self defense.....

How is that possible? I thought the mere presence of guns caused murder and crime....

FBI Data: Violent Crime Continues to Fall While Legislatures Move to Ban 'Assault Weapons' - The Truth About Guns

Crime continued to decline in the first half of 2019, according to new preliminary data published by the FBI. Violent crimes dropped by 3.1 percent compared to January-June 2018

Violent crime is not falling. Reporting violent crime is falling. Reassigning violent crime to legal activity has caused reporting of violent crime to fall. If anything violent acts are rising.

Hey what areas has violent crime fallen the most

Violent crime is not falling. Reporting violent crime is falling. Reassigning violent crime to legal activity has caused reporting of violent crime to fall. If anything violent acts are rising.

NewYork (and other hard left controlled areas) "reporting" massive, unprecedented historical drops in crime.

Yeah...sure....sell me a bridge.

Crime has 'fallen " 'the most where dangerous violent criminals are coddled and treated as the victim.

No...New York is reporting a 60% increase in gun crime........

New York....

Horowitz: NY crime skyrockets, shootings up 60%, following prison reduction agenda

No ordinary citizen can legally carry a gun in New York City, yet shootings are up 59.6 percent over this time last year.
On Sunday, a pregnant woman was shot while sitting in her own car in front of her home in Queens. This is becoming the new normal in New York after the memo has gone out to criminals in the city that politicians fear growing the prison population more than they fear crime.
According to NYPD crime data, in addition to the 59.6 percent spike in shootings over this time last year, robberies increased 32.8 percent and grand larceny auto crimes were up a whopping 62.8 percent. Burglaries rose by 17 percent. This is just for the first 26 days of 2020.
What gives? According to NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, it’s no mystery.
It’s all about New York’s law abolishing bail. “If you let out individuals that commit a lot of crime, that’s precision policing in reverse and we’re seeing the effects in a very quick time,” Shea said at a press conference last Friday. He decried the undeniable “correlation” between the rise in crime and the jail and prison “populations dropping significantly.”

Another Reason (If You Needed One) to Carry a Gun: Bail 'Reform' - The Truth About Guns

In most of the nation, setting bail not only helps ensure criminals make their court dates, but also serves as a deterrent to more criminal activity. After all, one can’t victimize innocent, law-abiding Americans when you’re in jail. And being re-arrested while you’re waiting for trial might just forfeit your bond.
New York State, however, has a new “no cash bail” law that took effect January 1 (because posting bail is racist or classist or something). The results have not been pretty.
Stories about of serial bad guys repeatedly walking out of jail without posting a thin dime for bail. Only to commit more crimes. From the New York Post:
Robbery is up almost 30% in New York City since the first of the year. Is this a statistical blip, a trend — or a New Year’s bail-reform gift from Albany, robbery now largely being a revolving-door offense in the Empire State?
Time will tell, but consider this as well: According to the latest NYPD stats, the number of shooting victims in the city is up 31% since New Year’s Day — so at the very least Gotham appears to be off to a rocky 2020 compared to last year.

When there is less violent crime of course the number of reports of violent crime decrease

Breaking and entering is legal. Smash and grab robberies are legal. Assault is legal. If an attempted rape can be considered solicitation for sex that's legal too. All property damage crimes are legal.

But if a homeowner should confront the violent offender that's the crime. There is less crime. Violent acts are on the rise.

Really?

Care to post a link to the statutes that say robbery and assault are legal?

When there is no punishment and an offender allowed to walk out that activity is defacto a legal activity.

It also doesn't rise when people decide to not say anything at all.

God bless you and those who are scared to speak up always!!!

Lewiston Maine had a huge problem with gangs of somali boys beating whites up. The crime rate was through the roof. Then the police worked out a deal where crimes by somalis would be turned over to a committee of elders and taken out of the municipal process.

The crime rate plummetted. No more complaints of attacks. No more smash and grab robberies. There were still plenty of attacks. A city park became de facto somali land. Smash and grab robberies still happened but they never got a single police complaint.

Violent crime has been dropping for thirty years

So where does it say assault is legal?

The only thing you have shown is that people who have not yet been convicted of a crime aren't being sent to prison

Which is the way it is supposed to be

And more and more Americans now own and carry guns...showing that normal people owning and carrying guns doesn't increase the gun crime rate.....thanks for your support....

Over the last 27 years, we went from 200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s and 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997...to close to 400-600 million guns in private hands and over 18.6 million people carrying guns for self defense in 2018...guess what happened...

-- gun murder down 49%

--gun crime down 75%

--violent crime down 72%

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.

Had Trump said violent crime was falling you would be claiming that it was true.

Violent crime has been dropping for thirty years
Reports of violent crimes have been dropping for 30 years. Local cities do not report crimes because of racial accusations. Local newscasts are funny because many do not say the color of a person where most of that crime comes from while they show the video to keep ratings and money for commercials coming in.

You got anything to back that up with other than your opinion.

Local newscasts are funny because many do not say the color of a person where most of that crime comes from while they show the video to keep ratings and money for commercials coming in.

If they show them on the video do they really need to tell you what color they are. A picture is worth a thousand words. when you see a black man do you some how think he is white. Also if you go to the local newspaper and look at mugshots why is there so many whites in there?

it can't be..you and others say millions of crimes are NOT reported ...so which is it??
..you're contradicting yourself --AGAIN

Yes. That's why New York and San Francisco are the way they are. Civilization is losing ground.
