Great Question.... What happened to America?

Great Question.... What happened to America?

What is the context? those Muslim women look like they are adults and choosing to pray of their own volition.

Those kids are being TOLD to pledge allegience to a flag. Maybe they don't want to. Maybe on of those kids is a Jehovah's Witness who don't bow to ANY flag. Maybe they are an atheist and don't beleive the nation is under a God.

I find it amsuing that the Libertarian Repubicans are all for the Pledge, which was originally composed (sans "Under God") by a socialist named Francis Bellamy.

Oh, yeah, here's how kids were originally supposed to salute the flag while saying the Pledge..

lol

Moronic 'question.'

Nothing ‘happened’ to America.

What’s happened to most conservatives is a lot of ignorance and stupidity – this idiotic thread premise being one of many examples.

It fails as a false comparison fallacy.

It fails as a straw man fallacy.

It fails as inane demagoguery and fearmongering.

No one says children saying the Pledge is ‘not OK,’ that's a baseless rightwing lie.

Indeed, what’s happened to most American conservatives is they’ve become whiners, demagogues, and liars.

That picture of the kids saluting the flag is the first gesture of a 4 part salute. It had nothing to do with Nazis and was abandoned because of the later Nazi salute. You're a dumb ass for not being correct.

Salute[edit]
Swearing of the Pledge is accompanied by a salute. An early version of the salute, adopted in 1887, known as the Balch Salute (which accompanied the Balch pledge), instructed students to stand with their right hand outstretched toward the flag, the fingers of which are then brought to the forehead, followed by being placed flat over the heart, and finally falling to the side.[3]

In 1892, Francis Bellamy created what was known as the Bellamy salute. It started with the hand outstretched toward the flag, palm down, and ended with the palm up. Because of the similarity between the Bellamy salute and the Nazi salute (which was adopted later), the United States Congressinstituted the hand-over-the-heart gesture as the salute to be rendered by civilians during the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem in the United States, instead of the Bellamy salute. Removal of the Bellamy salute occurred on December 22, 1942, when Congress amended the Flag Code language first passed into law on June 22, 1942.[29] Attached to bills passed in Congress in 2008 and then in 2009 (Section 301(b)(1)of title 36, United States Code), language was included which authorized all active duty military personnel and all veterans in civilian cloth

Is that a fact?

Looks like a Nazi Salute to me. And it was written by a socialist. You guys would be sreaming manically if they tried to do this today.

No, no, no. The palm is up as if to say, "Here is the flag of our country. I pledge allegiance to the flag of........(moves palm to head, then to heart, then at end of pledge drops hand to side)"
Shows you didn't open the link that refutes your Progressive Liberal blathering. Quit watching DWTS and read some books on American history.

I did read the history

The Pledge was written by a socialist and included a straight Arm salute. Until people realized that was a little creepyy. The thing is, the whole thing is a little creepy. As a kid, I was wondering why we were pledging to a nation that was "Invisible", because it wasn't like a third grader was going to know what these words meant.

Also, the key thing that a lot of people object to in the pledge is the "Under God" part, which wasn't in the original pledge. It was shoe-horned in there in the 1950's to show we weren't like those dirty Godless commies.

But anyway... the point I am trying to get across to you guys is that trying to brainwash kids either way is kind of stupid. The kid who said the Pledge in the 1950's was the same teen who was burning the flag in the 1960's because he didn't want to go to Vietnam.

Indivisible instead of invisible. It didn't become creepy until Hitler showed up. It wasn't a Nazi or Roman salute.Kids were not brainwashed and we understood exactly what it meant. The kids in my generation were informed and lived through WWII and yes, the cowardly and children of Progressive Liberal Pukes protested the war in Vietnam and burnt the flag. Just like cowards like Cassius Clay badmouthed the country. I'm glad the MFer is with his Allah. Who knows how many of those Godless communist MFers suffered strange accidents and deaths. Know what I mean?) And the other teens were fighting and dying for those communist MFers

Yeah, I get that. Third graders didn't....

It didn't become creepy until Hitler showed up. It wasn't a Nazi or Roman salute.

No, it was always kind of creepy. So was prayer in schools. I had to put up with both growing up.

Kids were not brainwashed and we understood exactly what it meant. The kids in my generation were informed and lived through WWII and yes, the cowardly and children of Progressive Liberal Pukes protested the war in Vietnam and burnt the flag.

While the chidlren of Republicans.... well, let's look at that
Bush - Hid in the national guard, didn't even show up for drills.
Dan Quayle - Hid in the National Guard. At least he showed up for drills
Dick Cheney- Got College deferments
Donald Trump - Got college deferments
Rush Limabaugh - Got a medical deferrment for a cyst on his ass

Hmmmm.... Seeing a pattern here?

Just like cowards like Cassius Clay badmouthed the country. I'm glad the MFer is with his Allah.

Yeah, how dare he criticize a country that made him ride on the back of the bus and drink out of a separate drinking fountain.

Who knows how many of those Godless communist MFers suffered strange accidents and deaths. Know what I mean?) And the other teens were fighting and dying for those communist MFers

I try not to pick on Vietnam vets, because I think they got royally screwed by the government

but-

exactly what where they fighting for? How did what theywere fighting for benefit the folks back home one iota?

Spoiler alert - it didn't. The people who instigated the war knew it was a fraud the moment it started. They knew the Vienamese didn't support the government we propped up.

Thankfully, someone stood up and said, "No!"
