Yep. Every nation has its issues.

Many people (like the OP) seem to confuse our lack of perfection with our being an awful nation.

We aren’t.

I see constant criticism of America by Americans as a symptom of the propaganda our people are constantly being fed. While some criticism is valid enough, much of it is really just a camouflaged complaint about where we arguably fall short.

Every nation does. Every land places its own needs above that of other nations. Indeed, our country does better on that concern than most nations. We do have great wealth. But we share much of it with the world.

I wonder what would happen to the OP if he tried to criticize his own nation if he were an Iranian citizen? Here, he can criticize America even though he isn’t an American.

When they break the law to enter a country they are hardly "refugees", it is breaking laws to enter that defines them as illegal immigrants. Especially if they have criminal records from where they originated, and if they by-passed the proper channels of background check and vetting.

When they come from hundreds to thousands of miles away, passing through other nations that could also be "safe haven" to get here it's clear they are not "refugees.

I believe that President Eisenhower risked his life by giving that speech.
