Why Interstellar Travel is Physically Impossible.

Of course. Simple aerodynamics and jet propulsion are well within the boundaries of physics and universal natural laws. But keeping living beings alive 20,000 years to even travel to the nearest star is a bit of a stretch of the imagination. Even with cryogenics or suspended animation, one would develop one hell of a freezer burn.
galt we dont know what kind of things science will open up for us a hundred years from now...

And of course that is precisely what it isn't.
I also have nothing to do with any CTs.
Period .
Hard Facts only . Scientific process always .

So , you were offered the food and refused .
Archive that as well .

Don't try to feed me a turd and call it "food", sweetmeat.

As many years as I've been on this earth, I do know the difference.

An intergalitic spaceship would have to possess significant shielding from cosmic radiation (i.e. photonic energy such as gamma radiation) which travels at velocities approaching the speed of light (c) and at energies powerful enough to strip atoms from human molecules such as DNA, leading to reproductive mutations, cataracts, cancer, and tumors.

Trying to play the backward and arrogant American does not suit you , Salty .
Your life could kick-start following Farsight.org .

But apparently even things which are 100% Free scare you .
Are Americans frightened of everything that might give them a Win ?
Rhetorical .

I was at this backward stage 30 years ago .
Now thinking of Alien travel using our near out of date Physics is laughable .

A bit like listening to Stone Age guys ridiculing 500 miles land travel in a day .
Or telling peasants 200 years ago that we could soon fly through the air in a Magic Box .

That AI stuff creeps me out.

What about tomorrow's world ?
There will be sentient AIs --- Wow indeed .
Both , Good and Bad .

Now that is when things will get both Complicated and Complex .

Which is Why there are such interesting arguments for Depopulation--- in crude terms , to increase average IQ participation levels enormously .
Or, get rid of all Thickos , Drongos , Munchers etc etc

Thanks for ruining the thread.

You must be American .
Give up after a few minutes .

Your Topic will run if it "has legs" .
You should know by now that 20 minute videos on a Chat site for the elderly are far too long
You should have summarised four of Susskind's main points in four snappy sentences in your OP .

Sheeple need directing .

i bet in 1840 they thought flying in an airplane, putting a rover on Mars was a pipe dream too...
Because they didn't understand the laws of physics well.

We understand that interstellar travel is not practical, precisely BECAUSE we understand the laws of physics.
