The article itself is an exercise in burying your head in the sand and adopting a herd mentality. This is typical Auzzie culture.

With regard to shark attacks, Auzzieland has some of the biggest most fierce sharks in the world -- the Great Whites.

"Not me worrying" about this could lead to death and disaster.

A more logical rational approach would be to bring a spear or spear gun with you.

I prefer spears when I scuba, rather than spear guns. But either is fine.

Actually, the point was, if you even bothered reading the article, is that beaches are visited 10s of millions of times a year by people. The chances of you being attached by a shark are minute. As the writers pointed out, most Yanks think that Muslims make up 10 percent of the US population, when the real number is less than 1 percent. Peoples' perceptions, and the actual truth, are at odds. That was his point. A bit like the gun nuts' belief that a society being armed to the teeth is a safer society. Going by US stats, that is clearly untrue.

According to bill clinton and barak obama, Americans use guns 1,500,000 times a year to stop violent criminal attack...so that means in one day, according to them, 4,109 times that day, Americans stopped violent criminal attack, saving lives......

So, with a total of 9,616 gun murders in 2015....... guns are still a positive force for good.....allowing normal, law abiding people to fight off monsters on a daily basis...lives not destroyed and lives spared horrible trauma.......

Saving more lives is the key......you would rather all of those people be robbed, raped or murdered...because you don't like guns....

He jumped through the hoops to be able to do that legally. The same rules should be applied to any gun that you can squeeze off 30 shots in under 10 seconds. It is effectively a machine gun.

No, they're not. And I too own a fully legal Thompson. I do agree that CRIMINALS need to be incarcerated for a very, very, very long time for committing a violent crime with a firearm. How about this, you use a gun to commit a crime and you automatically MUST serve 20 years on top of any sentence you get for the crime you committed? And again.....as more people carried guns....4.7 million in 1997...over 15 million in 2016....our gun murder rate went down 49%....our gun crime rate went down 75%.....our violent crime rate went down 72%.....there is nothing in this debate that supports your argument.....
