While I think the Wilson case was a situation that justified using lethal force, I am troubled by how many times recently we have heard officers say they "feared" for their safety or their lives, thus why they pulled their weapon.
I wonder if much of the time officers of today are not as willing as officers in the past to use hand to hand combat to subdue their perp ?
Or is it that today's thugs have much less respect for officers of the law as thugs in the past did, and are less likely to comply with verbal commands from officers today ?
If the latter is true, it may be why officers in large cities today dealing with lots of street criminals are more likely to go straight to their gun rather than even make an effort to take the perp by hand since they believe the perp will not obey commands.
