Why doesn't Britain play baseball, basketball or American football?

I play ice hockey, ice hockey is more difficult than any sport.

When it comes to hockey the Brits are so useless they cant even put a competitive Olympic A team together...

Oh, hockey is by far more difficult and physical than "rugby."

Let me put on a pair of skates and let me hit you going 15-20 mph...

Let me hip-check you at that speed and you will do a trick Tony Hawk would admire.

Hockey is hard core. I'd probably be into it - if I didn't live where it snows once every 5 years. That's the problem with hockey.

American Football can be played anywhere there's a field though.

You won't call it that when some other European country goes goose stepping all over you and we have to come over there and save your butts a third time. Obviously that soccer and rugby didn't result in much physical fitness cause those Krauts walked all over you pasty faced English dudes. We had to send our baseball and football players over there to turn that around.........

Versions of baseball and football did come from England, we just improved upon them. It's called American innovation.

Just kidding. Rugby looks like a pretty neat sport to play, but football is a great TV sport to watch. You ought to give it a try.

it comes down to time and money, like everything else. the schools in britain can barely afford to run soccer games with decent equipment. they are not going to fork out the small fortune to run american football games. you've got to remember population density also. only 61 million in the uk. Only 5.2 mil in the whole of scotland. Not alot!

The closest game to baseball I can think of that British people play is called "Rounders" which is considered a girl only game. Another sport similar to hockey which is played in N.I and Eire is Hurley which imo is very dangerous and results in a lot of injuries. The most popular sport which I was incouraged to do was motorcycle road racing although it does cost a lot of money and is one of the few sports that N.I excels in, road racing is by far the most popular and biggest sporting events in all of Ireland.

Also check out Irish football which is played in N.I and Wire but not Britain, it is not unlike American football but without the body armour. The nets/goals are unusual in that they are a mix of rugby and football nets.

A little personal bias there, champ?

He's almost right on with saying Hockey is the most difficult sport.

Here's the list:

Boxing
Ice Hockey
Football
Basketball
Wrestling
Martial Arts
Tennis
Gymnastics
Baseball/Softball
Soccer
Skiing: Alpine
Water Polo
Rugby
Lacrosse
Rodeo: Steer Wrestling

Is that list supposed to be ranked in order of 'difficulty'? You realize such a thing cannot be objectively determined, right?

Any motor sport would be more difficult than any of the above

Of course not. But you can try to come close and I think this list does. How would you measure it? - ZOMFG MY SPIRTS DA BEST CAUSE i PLAY IT!!!!!!!!!!

Let me see your list.

Brits are stuck-up.

Never even gave the 3 American sports I mentioned a fair shake.

Their loss.

Soccer blows.

Why should they, they are a different culture. The most valuable sports franchise in the world is not any of the American sports, it is soccer, Manchester United.,

Lawn Mower Racing is more difficult than Gymnastics?
Drag Racing is more difficult than Rugby?

What is your favorite sport? Show us your list.

Are you girls just mad because your sport is not where you think it should be?

"motor sport" is only a sport in the sense that fishing or wild game hunting is a "sport". The list above are competitive sports for athletes - any kind of "sport" where the majority of the energy output comes from an artificial device isn't really an athletic event.
