I'm taking the move at face value. Firstly, it shows Mr. Musk's devotion to the Constitutional equality of all. And he was willling to risk his popularity and fortune to encourage a healing of the rift between left and right's oneupmanship, one against the other, double to the rear march, repeat or retreat. He could also win friends on both sides by letting nature takes its course under conditions of equality. If the left shows its snarky side, they will lose a good supporter, a hard worker, 2/3rds of the nation, and a life long on respect and short on future ninnyhammering.
