Does anybody know? I love celebrating the start of the new year as well and I haven't got the slightest idea why. 😆

At one time, it would mean a possible change for the better, while the old year was just a shitter. With today's leaders, i can understand why you have such pessimism for 2023.

I don't wish for any year after 2000.

Now, if I could turn back time and go back to 1977...................................

It's like shedding our old skin, that year and it's history is in the books, to remain forever unaltered until the end of civilization.

Thus, we try and celebrate the good things in life such as our health, successes and the potential dreams still alive while allowing ourselves the ability to "start a fresh slate in a new year". Hence, New Years resolutions (which usually last a few days for most). Potential is endless in theory...

Or, maybe it's evolutionary, "a year older, wiser, better even!" all that self deception. "I can't wait for 2023, it's going to be one hell of a year!".

People say that every year and the same misery follows unfortunately, often through forces much more powerful than their own. Take those suffering in Ukraine for example or the dumb Canadian who believes they live with liberty (we even had truck drivers erroneously declaring "First Amendment Rights" not realizing that Canadas Charter is toilet paper compared to the U.S Constitution which mend died for).

Meh. Happy New Year...

Because Humans are creatures of habit, but also creatures of measurement. We measure everything in units of length, weight, time... And when a length of time is fulfilled, we see it as a time to change habits, hence all the resolution bullshit every new year.

Except I make New Year's resolutions I can actually make like this year I want to get better with maps. I just didn't actually start thinking about it until I believe that Baron Von Murderpaws brought it up of why am I so excited that the calendar is changing again? The world may never know. 😆

I'm not sure what you mean by excited.

It is the marking of a passage of time. One year ot the next.

A time to resolve to do better. A time to work on yourself.

Often those things don't happen, but really, is that a reason to give up trying?

My whole take on it is "Good riddance ******* 2022, you sucked" and "Awww ****...how bad is 2023 gonna be?"

Correct.

No Need to celebrate ANY of the following:

Birthdays
Anniversaries
Historical Events
Start of a New Year

Because of all the loss that I've endured over the past year, I'm not in a partying mood because going into another year feels like my family members are being left behind because with them being gone, it is obvious that they will not be coming into the new year with the rest of us who are still here.

God bless you and the remainder of my family always!!!
