Why do the Left Wing Liberals Hate Corporations?

Before there were government AND government which issued SPECIE, there was no market.

Those of you who think otherwise, who imagine that the barter economy of hunting gatherers was some kind of market are simply mistaken.

And if you cannot have markets without governments issuing currencies (even metal or stone coins are species, folks) then the statement

"Before government or religion the market was free" is the idle and misinformed specualtion of people who don't know doodle squat about anthropology or sociology or history.

Thanks, but I've ritten economic papers for The Cato Institute and the World Bank. Most notably on the Russian Hyper-inflation problems of the 90s.

I'll cut you some slack on whether the discussion is formal or informal, but don't try to out gun me. You'll just lose. Hence the phrase...die tryin'. :eusa_whistle:

We don't hate corporations, we just hate simpleton uninformed, unsophisticated Repug fuckholes such as yourself who have absolutely no concept of ethics or social justice.

So why do I dislike some unethical corporations? Let's count the ways --

1) Many corporations have shipped millions of American jobs overseas.
2) Virtually all large corporations control Congress through lobbyists. The recent Supreme Court decision that allows corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money on elections certainly won't help this situation.
3) Many corporations are deadly polluters of the environment. Perhaps you recall the BP disaster in the Gulf last summer, you ******* idiot? Of course, I'm sure this didn't outrage you as much as liberals do.
4) The giant banks on Wall Street ******* wrecked our economy in 2008, you ******* imbecile, costing millions of American jobs. And we have yet to recover from this.

So there's 4 good reasons why I dislike some corporations. Now kindly go **** yourself.

'Cause, the bigger they ARE, the less of their OWN ca$h they manage to INVEST???

:eusa_eh:

"A lot of Democrats that are already saying, even before they’ve seen your budget, that you do all of this balancing of the budget on the spending side, and unlike the President’s debt commission, you don’t do it on the revenue side. Do you eliminate tax breaks? Do you bring in new revenue by eliminating, for instance, tax breaks for oil companies?"

You post this and then remark about "uneducated"?

Oh.... the irony.

Why?

Corporations are the greatest drivers of wealth creation in the history of mankind.

I think they think they should pay taxes. Especially now, since the supreme court (the righty's on it) said corporations are now people.

You cant have it both ways righty's.

Whatever happened to ol Divey?

Becuase of their disproportinate influence on our govt thru lobbyists?

I do not hate corporations, Heck I owned a couple. I just think they have to much gotv influence and do not pay their fair share all the time.

And for the past few decades feel that they must continually increase their profit.
Quite often at the expense of US workers thru layoff, pay cuts or offshoring.

Couldn't have said it better. They have too much influence through lobbyists and they can't even vote.

Corporations are the greatest drivers of wealth creation in the history of mankind.

Demand drives wealth. no one hates corporations they just want them to pay their fair share and stop getting a free ride. Microsoft would be nothing if it wasn't for the demand for PCs.
What liberals fail to grasp is that corporations don't pay taxes. Consumers do. Taxes are just another cost of doing business that gets passed down to the consumer. Tax a corporation 10% and you will pay 12% more for their product to cover the tax and the accounting and legal costs of paying it.

"Now I’m not against hard work, saving money, or taking care of your family—in fact I believe strongly in all of those things. But I also believe that the person who has worked hard, saved money and accumulated wealth to take care of their family was NOT able to do that independently.

A more careful look would disclose another fundamental factor in wealth creation—being born in America. (What Warren Buffett refers to as winning the game of ovarian roulette.)

What is so special about place of birth?

First off, economists agree that the presence of a stable market for goods and assets adds 30% to the value of everything we own—we have that in America, and that increases wealth.

Second, economists tell us that 50% of the annual growth in our economy is a function of the introduction of new technology—we have that in America, and my family knows first-hand about how new technology can increase wealth.

But the benefits of being an American don’t stop there.

In no other country in the world is the federal government spending more money on research. The United States spends some $96 billion every year on fundamental research in universities and laboratories all over this country.

And what comes of this research? Well for starters how about things like jet engines, integrated circuits, the human genome, or the Internet. Clearly the largest and most generous venture capitalist in the universe is Uncle Sam.

It is clear that the folks who have become wealthy from this significant social investment did not do it alone. I believe their estates owe something back to the society that enabled the creation of that wealth."

I disagree , that would only be the case if tax is an exessive burden on profit. If you arte making a widget that costs $200 and the profit of of $100 and you raise taxes 10% that would be an extra cost $20 so your profit is now $80 Are you going to raise the price to $220 and cut demand for your product? I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to take a profit of $80 dollars on a $200 dollar sale.

And I would like to add that corporations use the roads, police, fire ,water, courts and all other commons and they should pay for it. I don't smoke and I shouldn't have to pay for all the court cases against tabacco companies and their use of other commons.

I agree with everything you posted. But it doesn't obviate the fact that corporations are the repositories for the greatest creation of wealth in humankind.

15th post
"By 1902, 90 percent of Africa’s territory was under European control. African self-governance was wiped off the map in most of the continent. Only Ethiopia remained an independent state. Liberia was technically independent too, but it was in fact under the control of the United States.

"The so-called 'Scramble for Africa' by Britain, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, the United States and the other capitalist powers was essential for the growth and enrichment of the modern-day capitalist class, which included the owners of the biggest banks, syndicates and monopolies.

"Africa was plundered and looted and, as a result, the western capitalists entered the 20th century with the largest fortunes in the history of the human race."

How much of that wealth has been the result of plunder?

Don't tell the obvious truth, we shouldn't be taxing businesses, education institutions, the poor (taxing the poor keeps them poor), teachers (they would stay in the US if they didn't have to pay tax), doctors (they have big student debt to pay off),etc and that list is too long to put here. :eusa_shhh:

Why do people hate corporations?

Because they stole our money and destroyed our economy with a $512 TRILLION DOLLAR derivative bubble.

Because they fouled the Gulf of Mexico with millions of gallons of oil.

Because their reactors are spewing radiation into the air and the ocean in Japan.

Because their lobbyists gave $10 BILLION DOLLARS to members of Congress in the last ten years, so we would continue to have the most expensive and immoral healthcare system in the world.

There's more, but it's late, and I worked an eleven hour day today...
