Some whites have these problems for the same reason all other races have these same problems....
exactly my point.
people with negative social traits tend to have one thing in common, lower intelligence, especially in the individual but also in the formative background.
what are the reasons? is it class background, SES, bad parenting, bad luck, environment, genetics, intelligence, lack of opportunity, peer pressure, impulsiveness, ADHD, ADD, etc, etc? is it a combination of one, some or all of those things, depending on the individual?
class background? definitely driven by intelligence, the smart individuals go or stay up in class, the dull go down or stay down in class. on average of course. there are always exceptions to every trend.
SES is a more definible way of saying class, and is even more correlated to intelligence.
bad parenting? we are all a product of our own upbringing but more intelligent people recognize the mistakes that were made in their childhood and make a conscious effort to ameliorate them in the next generation.
peer pressure is a huge influence on adolescents. smart parents tend to make sure their kids go to the right schools and join the right activities to be exposed to other children who hold the same values as their own.
impulsiveness, unless caused by neurological problems, is definitely caused by intelligence and short time horizons. some individuals just don't understand that decisions made today affect the future.
opportunity and luck. kinda go together. if you are surrounded by smart people your opportunities are often good one, and the opposite also holds true. luck, besides the lottery, is often not as random as people think. smart people are often 'lucky'. smart people even live longer.
most of us live in the middle, the average. the same forces are in effect but they aren't quite as noticable. but the slightly smarter tend to go up, the slightly duller go down. some of you will complain that I am not taking concientsousness, dilligence, or other behavior traits into account. obviously they are important, but are hard to measure. they are probably also correlated to intelligence.
