That second part is a good point. I've never really thought welfare bought votes - at least not from welfare recipients. I think it has more appeal to white guilt. People on welfare are generally too preoccupied with their situation to bother voting.

well for one, your data doesn't represent that more republicans are receiving welfare it simply shows that blue states take in a higher percentage of taxes to welfare paid out. because as I sad earlier blue states are where the tax paying 1% and corporations reside. the data you are using does not support your claim at all.

Having said that, I doubt there is anyone in either party that is against a temporary safety net for those who have fallen into some bad times. What has occurred is that Welfare has become a career for far too many people in this country. The people who have used the system as a career have hurt it for those who actually need it for temporary support.

Well, to be specific - I'm against unconstitutional government "safety net". I 100% support a "safety net" where a private citizen contracts with a private company for unemployment insurance, long term disability insurance, short term disability insurance, etc.

The reality is, a responsible person creates their own safety nets. Sadly, Dumbocrats are not responsible people. They are ****'n children who want to spend their money on beer, cigarettes, and porn while expecting society to provide for food, housing, and healthcare.
