Even many Trump supporters can see that he is, in many ways, a garbage human being. They might not go that far in their description, but can see that he's at least the "not a nice person" from this quote. Those supporters, of course, believe in many of the administration's policy choices, so they are willing to overlook Trump's personality issues.

For those who don't agree with those policy choices, for those who think many of those policies are actively hurting the country, Trump's personality issues take on greater import. It's not just policies that are bad for the country, it's policies bad for the country being pushed by a bad person who seems to have a strong hold over the Republican party.

Of course some take it too far.

But to put it very simply, Trump comes off as a total dick way too often.

FDR's handicap was covered up. I believe Eisenhower had a heart attack while in office, and his health was kept under wraps. It is said that Reagan was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s in his last term. We didn't see all this then.
