That is a rhetorical question I assume.

If "we" means Republicans, then let's be 100% honest. The GOP has the House because of gerrymandering. Democratic House candidates got more votes.

But both sides do it - that's not to say the House majority is illegitimate. It's every bit as legitimate as previous Democratic majorities. But it doesn't mean you've "won" the argument on merit.

The "argument" is a very close call among Americans right now - pretty evenly divided.
